This is a Dog Friendly beach. And, like so many locations in Western Australia the surrounding area is heavily baited with the insidious and inhumane 1080 poison in the nearby National Park, so your Dog is at risk of picking up a relocated bait. There is also a sign at Cheynes Beach warning of the dangers of poisonous sea hares on the beach to your Dog.
It is a particularly weedy beach and tiger snakes were sighted amongst the weed during our visit over several days. If you visit this Beach, please be aware of the dangers to your Dog, and also watch your own step due to the snakes. I didn't find it a relaxing place to walk my Dogs with so many things to watch out for (baits, sea hares and snakes).

We managed to get a few videos. The beach is so pristine it squeaks under your feet. The water is amazing and really clear. I will be heading back as soon as I get the chance. This time of year is great to see whales along Cheynes. I would suggest anyone that has a drone to take it, and you would get great footage from it. Wonderful place, and at night, with a clear sky the stars are so much brighter, due to there being little to no other lights interfering with your viewing. You need a 4wd to truly enjoy the magic...
Read moreAbsolutely love Cheynes beach. Crisp white sand, awesome turquoise blue water which is nice and calm around the cove/ boat ramp side, can take your 4WD onto the beach and cruise along for miles. You can head up the beach and pull up for some fishing. Pick the right day and it’s just bliss sitting on the beach watching the waves roll in. There is a big caravan park up the hill with a deli/lunch bar where you can get food and drinks, coffee, and bits and bobs. Highly recommend heading to Cheynes if you get a chance. Only 40 minutes...
