Wildbrumby Schnapps Distillery — Local services in Crackenback

Winner of JK's Top Restaurant of 2021, Wild Bruby ❤️🥇❤️.⁣ ⁣ Wild Brumby is actually a schnapps distillery set on a huge land plot in the middle of nowhere between Jindabyne and Thredbo. We paid a visit over the weekend and ordered the schnapps tasting. We chose: Butterscotch, Peach, and Pear, and here's how they stacked up:

Butterscotch: This one’s a crowd favorite, and for good reason! Right from the first sip, you get hit with this amazing, sweet aroma that really draws you in. The taste is rich, creamy, and just downright indulgent. But after a couple of sips, it did start to feel a little too sweet, almost like dessert in a glass. Still, it’s perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

Peach: I really enjoyed the peach schnapps! It had a lovely scent, light and refreshing. The flavor was super smooth, with just the right amount of fruity sweetness. This is definitely a drink that’s easy to sip on and feels perfect for a sunny day.

Pear: Sadly, the pear schnapps didn’t quite do it for me. It tasted a bit too much like cough medicine. The flavor was kind of flat and not as enjoyable as the others. Definitely the least favorite of the bunch.

As for the distillery itself, it's a great spot to hang out. They’ve got both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can choose where you want to chill. The outdoor area is really spacious, with lots of room for kids to run around, and there are some cool sculptures scattered around to check out. It’s a nice mix of a laid-back vibe and a beautiful setting.

Overall, Wildbrumby is definitely worth a visit. The schnapps tasting is a fun experience, especially if you’re a fan of unique flavors, and the whole place is perfect for a relaxing day out. Just make sure to go easy on that butterscotch unless you’re ready for a...

My wife and I were staying in the chalets across the road and decided to pop in to try some schnapps. The location is beautiful with well maintained grounds boasting numerous sculptures. Beyond this good first impression however, we found the experience a little underwhelming. We did not have a booking so understood before going that we may not be able to get a seat, and upon arrival we were told that they could fit us in but we would have a short wait which was fine. As we were being told this a larger group of around 12 finished up and we were then told we could be seated as soon as they cleared the tables. However, in the the time it took to clear the tables 4 groups of around 3-5 people came in behind us. We then stood there watching as these groups were all seated right in front of us. We were then left standing next to an empty table and asked if we could be seated here, only to be told that a table outside will be ready in a few minutes. My assumption was that the table outside was to seat two and they were keeping the four seat table for a larger group. We waited another 10 minutes or so and were then lead to a four seat table outside. Being made to wait next to a vacant table watching people who came in behind us be seated only then to be put outside in the cold didn’t exactly make us feel welcome.
