My parents and sister stayed here for a week this July. We stayed in two of the superior cabins and had a lovely stay. Check in was smooth & the staff are lovely. ||Rawnsley Park is remote, and that is definitely part of the attraction. The station itself is huge, and has accommodation ranging from the superior cabins to campsites. It is spacious and welcoming.||On the night we arrived we were treated to a beautiful sunset which seemed to change colours every minute. It was absolutely stunning! Birds, sheep, kangaroos & more visit regularly. The scenery is stunning. ||The cabins we stayed in were fairly clean, very cosy and the beds were comfortable. There were a few minor issues, such as a tap that needed to be fixed, which was taken care of quickly.||In my parents’ cabin, there was a QR code where you could locate information regarding the property as well as the Wi-Fi details. This was stuck onto the kitchen wall. However, in my sister and my cabin there was no such information. I would recommend that this information is passed along at reception. More information regarding the site rules would also be useful such as noise restrictions etc. This is relatively minor, but I did notice there were many older guests, and this is information that could be useful such as emergency contact details. I think that it would also be good to have this information as hardcopy, as this would be easier to read.||We did not eat at the Woolshed, however we did get a takeaway. The food was absolutely delicious & the restaurant looked so beautiful. If we had planned things a little bit more, it would have been great to book in and have a dinner there. However, the great thing about being in the cabin was that we were able to cook our own dinner, and this was one of the things that we did want to do. ||The station is perfectly placed for sightseeing. Unfortunately, it was a little bit too windy for us to take advantage of the scenic flights, but this is something to do another time! If you are thinking of doing any of the 4WD tours, I really do recommend booking in early as we were too slow! ||It is about 30 km to Hawker, where you can get petrol and other supplies. There is a small shop in the caravan park part of Rawnsley is, as well as a petrol station. The small shop wasn’t very well equipped, so perhaps stock up before you get there. ||Overall, we had a great time and got to see some amazing sites in the Flinders Ranges. You honestly have to see the place to believe how expensive and stunning it is. I would definitely...

More like a family caravan park than a bush retreat.

Line up to check in was long, waiting in the car along the road waiting with no information as to what was happening was a bit disconcerting. Would be great to have received communication from the park outlining what to expect upon arrival especially in peak season but communication isn’t a strong suit.

Bathrooms and cooking facilities were there and were as clean as can be with large groups of families constantly moving in and out. I am unaware if they had been cleaned when we stayed.

Would recommend avoiding amenities at busy times as there are big groups that make for long wait times - being mornings and night…

Pool is very small and is very much for children, as is most other public spaces. Unless you have children, expect to spend most of your downtime at the Station at your campsite. A bit of a disappointment as after a day hike a swim in the pool would have been a nice option.

Expect to listen to layers of music and personal TVs throughout the night, with a lot of light pollution from a range of caravans and RVs with fairly lights and assortments of external lights as you sit by your campfire.

This is not for nature lovers; or people that want to immerse themselves in nature. Lights and sound of other campers will, most likely take away from an experience of the dark sky and nature if that’s what you were after.

The few nights we stayed, we had the pleasure of watching a passive aggressive stand off between different campers ‘turning lights off’ and ‘turning lights on’ in the recreation BBQ area, with different campers having different priorities.

People at reception weren’t particularly friendly, as it was our first time in the area and hoping the Flinders Rangers would be a regular holiday spot, we were keen to learn about where to go and what to do, it was unfortunate but volunteers, staff and rangers at the further along Wilpena Pound were fantastic and so helpful in guiding us.

Following the saying ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’ I would highly recommend Rawnsley Park Station for large, loud groups, drinkers, parties, and big families a great place for children and people that want to get away, but bring their TV and mod-cons with them!

Unfortunately, this accommodation wasn’t what we were looking for, and found it hard to find information on what it would be!

The Woodshed is a great place to escape for quiet/adult(ish)...

I have been going to Rawnsley Park for many years now, and this was the first time I've been disappointed with my visit. We booked a cabin, and on first arrival, i noticed that the cabins had been relocated. There was a huge lineup of people trying to book in. Turns out the park was overbooked, and there were people absolutely everywhere. The cabins that once looked out at the Wilpena Pound had been moved to another area where the benefits were area was more secluded but no view.

When dealing with staff and getting key to the cabin. They were fantastic. i can not speak more highly of the two working under pressure and still managed to be so accomdating and friendly.

The new cabin location some bright spark decided to put the firepit about 3 metres from the cabin door entrance so have a guess which direction the smoke decided to travel in...yup even with minimal opening and closing of the cabin door everything smelt soo badly of smoke.

The biggest disappointment is the fact that the Woolshed Restaurant located on the property no longer serves their famous lamb pizza. Given that it's a sheep station, it was a part of the experience eating meat from the property and let me tell you something it was no word of a lie the greatest pizza i have ever eaten and would easily drive from Adelaide yearly just for the pizza. My partner was disappointed as it was all i kept going on about. Spoke to numerous people around the park who agreed, saying the pizza needs to be put back on the menu regardless of who the current chef is. What made things worse was that the pizza was smaller and was not cooked. The base wasn't cooked at all yet edges burnt. We dont take things back, so 2 minute noodles it was for dinner.

We ended up having campers right behind us because they had overbooked and had random people walking along our front steps of our cabin because it was in the was of a walking trail.

The cabin we stayed in leaked on the kitchen bench due to rain or plumbing came through wall and it was where my phone and keys were sitting so they sat in a heap of water all night i only realised when i woke the next morning.

This is a lengthy review because Rawnsley Park station was my favourite place in the world, and i wanted my partner to experience that same feeling i get going to this station. It...

Best central location. Hiked up the Bluff which gave me amazing views of Wilpena Pound and of Rawnsley park. Woolshed for dinner is the best lamp I've ever had and definitely worth the price

Rawnsley Park Station. An extremely busy park, I was surprised with the number of people, especially after 2 weeks of off grid camping in Flinders. Was big enough you were not in each other's pockets. Showers in old brick block great, showers in the tin showers block not as good. Laundry was great and good sized washing lines. The camping kitchen was large space. Not enough tables and chairs on windy wet days. Petrol pumps a great bonus. Internal roads to reach off grid camping area towards and past second toilet was pretty rough going, especially when staying multiple days back an forwards. Great to see Emus wandering through our site, felt sorry for the sheep they seemed frightened by the people and vehicles. Internal walks were great. Fantastic views of Rawnsley Bluff. Nice restaurant, by warned you need to order take away by 5 30p don't get caught out! Loved that they allow you to wash your vehicles for a donation to Flying doctors. The Arkapema Track is well worth the money, take a picnic lunch loads of places to stop and enjoy the environment. We spent 7 hours doing the track, took our time and thoroughly enjoyed the serenity. The shop had basic supplies, i bought a few items and the next day visited the IGA at Wilpena Pound and found items much cheaper, so Rawnsley shop is good for convenience. The road leading into Rawnsley Park Station is like a race track, the speed people drive, giving there are people walking, mountain bike riders, vehicles pulling in and out of restaurant area, the emus, was really not necessary. An emu was hit on that Internal road when wecwere there. Even if Rawnsley on there main riad access road reduced the speed limit from dusk to dawn would be a great start..
