Hello..
We booked our holiday in january for april… 4 days travelling from brisbane to emerald! & it does disappoint me to say although the location was great and the adventure was fun, we were extremely let down… we booked for a family of 5… our friends booked for a family of 4… we were put into a tiny room, 2 bunk beds 1 queen, all 1 small space, while the family of 4 had 2 ROOMS, a kitchen, a varanda a bathroom massive dining table, even a hallway… we could of easily slept 6 people in there comfortably so i do not understand why a family of 4 gets the larger space and a family of 5/6 is crammed into a little donga… i really think this needs to be reviewed!
the entire bar / restaurant was closed the entire 4 days we were there!!! which was never mentioned when booking was made or leading up to!! only once we arrived we were told!
i tried to get takeaway beers only to be told i could get 1 x 6 pack because they dont normally sell caronas so they dont keep stock!
everybody had wifi, and the password seemed to be a big secret, so we had no service all weekend which didnt really worry me but the children couldn’t watch there fav shows after showers..
turns out wifi was part of the room package we were just never told about it or given passwords!
also; my children were SO EXCITED to hire a boat and go fishing. i got them dressed, got ready for the day ect and went to hire a boat. only to be told the motor was broken. there were 2 other boats beside that.. which i asked can i hire one of those instead only to be told no… they didn’t get used the entire weekend after that… she told me she would ring me when the motor was fixed. no phone call no check in no apology no nothing. it was extremely disappointing.
then i went to wash clothes. it took my money but wouldn’t work. so i went to the office and they tell me sorry we are closed (early mind you) she gives me $7 refund & says sorry try tomorrow
~ i was leaving for my big trip home in the morning.
Extremely tired management & maintenance!!!
although i still had a ball because of the group we went with, i wont be in a rush back… have a think about the fact you manage/run a HOLIDAY PARK people come for their probably only holiday in 12 months! make it a memorable and at very least...
Read moreThis park is an improvement in progress. Have stayed many times before and always found the experience unimpressive but necessary when chasing Redclaw in the dam. Nothing like Big 4's usual standard. The birdlife is amazing though, and the Cockatoos and Rainbow Lorikeets love treats and don't mind sitting on your hand for a snack of fruit. HOWEVER; New owners arrived early this year (2025) and you can already see quite a difference. They are very friendly, accommodating and hard working and eager to improve the park and its amenities. Already small improvements are being made. Camp kitchens are quite good and one set of amenities are not bad however, the 2nd set of amenities are nothing short of abysmal! They have commenced renovation of these however this will be a huge job. I really think they should be totally removed and a complete new building inserted. The view over the dam from the higher powered sites would be awesome if the surrounding bush was cleared sufficiently, it seems to have already been cleared in front of the Cabins and the restaurant/bar, pool area. The restaurant/bar is basic but quite a sufficient menu for the odd night out (the pizzas are very tasty), the bar is open from Wednesdays through to Sundays and serves cold Redclaw Bitter at an amazing price, plus an assortment of wines and pre-mixed spirits. All in all, a very comfortable and pleasant stay. in peaceful and beautiful bush...
Read moreAbsolutely loved the location and the welcoming of visitors coming and going. The family park is very inviting. The staff although helpful appeared to be under duress as the park was at peak season and active staff were sparse. At first we were directed to the incorrect cabin but figured this out quickly. Once we did access the correct cabin our floors inside were excessively wet with puddles in all rooms so we had to use our shower mat to mop it up, our cabin although cleaned was severely dated esp the bathroom for the price. The use of the microwave fridge and ac were welcomed, the beds were fresh and comfy but the kitchen had limited sized cooking utensils for a large family of 4 or 5 but we managed. The variety of wildlife and access to the lake was epic the communal showers toilets were always clean and the scones with creamy redclaw pies and salad were a dream. Washing machines were a plenty but some dryers would be helpful for large families. We loved the parks activity but i believe we would enjoy our experience staying in our own Caravan we left...
