Hiking in Gariwerd Country.

I had the privilege of experiencing one of the best rock face hikes ever. It's truly a wonderland up there on the rocks, and the 360-degree view from the top is absolutely stunning. Upon reaching the summit, you'll feel an incredible sense of serenity that can't be bought anywhere. Take your time to engage with the magnificent view and pay respects to our ancestors for a moment.

If you're planning to visit this place, be aware that it requires a high level of hiking skill, ranging from level 3 to 5. The hike involves a few rock climbing and cliff walks, which can be dangerous, especially when the wind is blowing. Be sure to bring plenty of water and some snacks, and most importantly, carry a first aid kit. This climb is not suitable for children under 12, and you must be fit and not afraid of heights. Additionally, it's essential to have proper shoes with good grip, and if possible, bring a hiking stick.

It's important to remember that Gariwerd country is the land of our ancestors, so we must be respectful, safe, and enjoy our...

What an underrated mountain hike! We spent a long weekend at Grampians and did the popular Pinnacles, Boroka, Reed & balconies but this one - Hollow Mountain was the highlight!

Granted it was a 35min car ride on gravel road from Halls Gap, I wasn't planning to put this on the list but was recommended by my boss friend, saw some photos and decided we had to make this stop.

The hike was marked as a Level 4 hike, i.e steep and challenging as there are parts where you need to rock scramble to the top - but only a short stretch.

For the short-ish hike up (1 to 1.5 hours) it's a very rewarding view up there, there's quite a few different sights to see of it's beautiful rock formations, caves and canyon looking cliffs!

Loved every bit of it and planning to come back with my family. Note that we hiked this on a sunny day, can imagine it being quite a challenge for slippery rocks if it's a wet day.

NOTE: Make sure to follow the yellow arrows when finding your...

If you are a risk-taker this is a playground for you.

Don't be fooled by the beautiful pathway to start ur hike.

As a beginner this is not for the faint-hearted esp if u're scared of heights - u need to climb rocks, scale on the side of the mountain and face the winds on top of the summit..

However that being said.. It is definitely worth the challenge.. If kids of 7-10 year olds can do it.. U can too! It's worth the view and worth the challenge and u will make ur therapist proud!

Make sure you are with the right company too as that can make or break ur experience..

Overall I would give this hike a 5 for views and experience but since it's a tricky course.. 4 star will do!

Enjoy!! Try to avoid...

A short, fun and challenging hike with scrambling and a bit of bouldering. I only have a little experience with this type of hike which is a bit more climby, but found this very manageable and finished the track in 1 hr 40. You need to have some head for heights and good balance and mobility, but I saw people aged 10 to age 65 up there - just take it at your own pace and turn back if it’s not for you. I would steer clear if it’s wet or very windy. There are some cool caves to look at up there, and 360 degree gorgeous views at the top. Other reviews mentioned 30km of dirt road, but this can be reduced to 5km if you arrive via the C222 or western highway.
