This feels like a forgotten island and not in a good way. I'm sure the snorkeling is great, however we went for the day and it was raining literally the whole day so couldn't get into the water as the visibility for snorkeling was terrible and the waters were rough due to the weather and we were advised against snorkeling. Only the bar and bistro was open (on the whole island) and there's no indoor seating, only outside undercover so the only thing to do all day is eat (and for many who were stuck on the island, drink a lot) and wait for the ferry to return. We went on Keppel Konnections and they cancelled the 2pm return despite the weather meaning we were unable to do anything so had to wait until the 4pm return. We went on a walk for something to do and it was an average walk at best. The tracks are very poorly maintained, with large branches over the path and the paths completely washed away in parts (and these were the paths that were open and were told we could walk on, not to mention other paths that you're told not to go on because they're so badly damaged). There is a deserted resort right on the beachfront which really takes away from any nice views. Everything on the island feels run down. A real shame. If there's rain forecast when you want to go, I'd strongly suggest reconsidering your plans as there are no indoor activities available at all on the island. Very...
Read moreThis place is not set up for tourists at all, little to no signage all over the island. When you land off the boat, you have no idea where to go. There is no information hub and it is really easy to get sunburnt. Very limited shade around the island. It costs $45/pp return, the boat transport people aren't interested in giving any information to you.
A lot of the mapped-marked walks are dangerous and most of the paths lead to nowhere or a cliff. It seems like it's best if you're a local and you know how to get around. There is very limited information online. Good luck if you're...
Read moreAdmittedly we went at the height of summer and at the peak time of day - so it felt like holidaying on the sun! The sand was scalding hot. We were one of the few to bring a cabana to shelter from the sun but a lot of the day trippers had nothing and I felt for them. You can do your water sports for a few hours but it feels a long time on a fairly desolate place (not built up like e.g. Tangalooma) and people were queuing to get back to dry land. Bathroom facilities are very basic. Great for people who want to splash their feet in the sea or snorkel / kayak etc. The...
