East Mount Barren is a quartzite peak of the Barren Range in Fitzgerald River National Park. It was sighted and named by explorer Matthew Flinders on 6 January 1802, together with two other peaks in the range, West Mount Barren and Middle Mount Barren. All were named because of their barren appearance.

Amazing and relatively easy hike to the top of Mt Barren. Amazing panoramic views over Hopetoun and the surrounds up the coast of the Fitzgerald River National Park and nearby ranges. Some areas had thick shrubs to hike through so I would recommend long sleeves to avoid scratches

Very enjoyable hike. Great views. Make sure to walk all the way to the end of the track ! Note that there is some scrambling up rocks. Took us about 75 minutes up, including a few stops for rest and photos and 45 minutes down back to the car.

Amazing views! Took us about an hour and a half up and down including a few short stops. Trail could be slightly better maintained - lots of scratchy bushes if you’re wearing shorts and we only saw one way marker

Fantastic climb to the top with unparalleled views on all sides. If you time your descent to coincide with the sunset then youll be in for a special treat where the walkboard glows under the light of the setting sun. Great rocks of all shapes and sizes at tops. Get all the way to the very end of trail for you will be treated to an amazing view of Culham inlet...
