For years, I’ve brought the kids to Willowbank Raceway for the thrill of Test & Tunes and big events. But banning EVs? That’s a leap back to the dark ages. Instead of driving forward with innovation, Willowbank has caved to the cries of combustion loyalists clinging to their fossil-fuelled toys. It’s like watching torch-wielding villagers refuse the lightbulb, convinced that electricity is some witchcraft plot to dethrone fire.
This decision isn’t just preemptive; it’s a reaction straight from oil-sponsored headlines that spin EVs as ticking time bombs. The reality? EVs are about as fire-prone as a glass of water, with safety systems that kick in the moment anything gets too warm. They’re built with so much protective tech, it’s practically a fire extinguisher on wheels.
Rather than embracing EVs as the future, Willowbank is holding up a “No EVs Allowed” sign with all the energy of someone embracing dial-up in a Wi-Fi world. This poorly informed, regressive choice has the place parked in the past, inhaling exhaust and calling it fresh air. Willowbank had a golden chance to lead motorsport into a new era, but instead, it’s chosen to cling to outdated myths, racing full speed into...
Read moreWillowbank is an awesome place to take the family. The facilities are great with grandstand seating the entire length of the track. Food vendors attend the major events but you are able to bring your own food and (non alcoholic) drinks. The Winternationals in June is the highlight of the calender but there are regular events throughout the year. From the ultimate racing bracket, Top Fuellers, to Doorslammers, Top bike, Pro stock, Top alcohol, Super sedan, Altered, Junior dragster etc. and even the Nitro Harleys, there's so much entertainment and something for everyone. Regular themed events and nights for amateur racers there are plenty of opportunities to Race Ya Mates. Be it Friday night lights, Diesel assault, Mopar Sunday, All Ford day, Jamboree, Nostalgia drags and the list goes on. So if you have never seen a vehicle launch from zero to 500+km/h in 4 seconds on a 400m track, you know where to come. (BRING HEARING PROTECTION 😉) The sight, the sound and the smell is absolutely astonishing and I have yet to see any newcomers walk away...

This troll accused me and other riders of "pushing in" and wouldn't let us into the venue unless we turned around and went back behind 10 cars... this is after filtering through 5km of standstill traffic, so the troll is clearly lacking logic.
Absolute power-tripper. If you're going to have "traffic management" at the entrance, at least have staff that are aware of Queensland road rules:
Transport Operations (Road Use Management—Road Rules) Regulation 2009, section 151A: this section details the conditions under which LANE FILTERING IS PERMITTED FOR MOTORCYCLES.
Key points of Section 151A: Lane filtering is allowed for motorcyclists with an open licence (not learner or provisional riders).
It is permitted between stationary or slow-moving vehicles traveling in the same direction, at a speed not...
