Salt on Tamar — Local services in Launceston

I have not had takeaway in a very long time. Not only do i just not eat it, I got tired of sloppy food, oily rubbish, underwhelming taste and just half assed service. I accidently found Salt on Tamar as I was doing something for a friend and a post came up about how good their potato cakes are. I started looking at what other people had written and it was ALL good so I thought "might be time to go and see about this'. So my whole family and I trundled across the other side of town and braved it! Well - all I can say is OMG and WOW. Not only are the staff friendly, helpful and patient (there were sooooo many great choices so we took a wee while). the food was mindblowingly fabulous. The potato cakes ARE the best I have ever had. The food was perfectly cooked. NOHING dripped with soggy oil. ALL of us could not speak as we were just ripping into the delicious food. All you heard in our cars (where we sat to eat it hot and fresh) were continual mmmmmm yummy and OMG delicious comments between bites. We got a differing array of foods as each of us brought something different and I can honestly, hand on heart - tell you that it is the best takeaway I have EVER had. I have lived all over Australia and this is literally the best takeaway ever! Do yourself a favour and see...

Disappointed. My order was given to someone else. After 35 mins I finally received the order however when opened it was was not as i ordered or advertised. If they run out of good they should not just fill it with anything. The meal was very small and lacking in the extras I had ordered. They were exceptionally busy, but I got no apology or anything. It was a special occasion for us and frankly fur $57, not worth it. Frankly very disappointed as this place used to very good. The only redemption was that the good we received was cooked very well. We will give one more chance before looking for...

Got fish and chips from here for tea the fish was HUGE !! The nicest tasting fish with really good batter. I hate soggy batter and judge my fish on the fact if it repeats on me and I'm still eating it hours after, well this batter was beautiful really crispy cooked really well. The chips were yummy and the potato cakes just as yummy. Will definitely go back again and highly recommend fed our family of 4 for under $35. Can't complain about that . Quick and friendly service and the burgers look amazing !!...
