Search for "Lake Tyrrell viewing platform". This is a misleading direction, and will lead to nowhere as shown in my photo attached. The photo of Lake Tyrrell and Sky Lounge can be found from the viewing platform. It was really disappointed that I was supposed to reach there before sunset but because of this misleading direction, I had nearly lost my way after a 40mins drive from Sea Lake...
After I reach RV site at Sea Lake Traveller Rest and search google again, it was only a 10min drive from the RV site. Just remember to keep LEFT from the Y-junction after seeing the School Bus sign.
Not giving up, I continue to try again the next morning and indeed the view is beautiful in the morning, with clear sky and pink lake, but the Point is half submerged in water.
The road leading to viewing platform is not fully established from Google Maps. However, following the physical road sign, it will lead you into the first carpark with information and toilets. Continue to drive down and it will lead you to the Sky Lounge. Confused but that is what's travelling is anyway. Enjoy and have fun!
Travelled on 10 October 2022.

Lake Tyrrell is situated in the heart of the Victorian Mallee, 7km north of the township of Sea Lake and 314km north west of Melbourne. The largest inland salt lake in Victorian is an attraction for tourists from all over the world, drawn to the mesmerising scenery, stunning sunrises and sunsets and breathtaking night skies. The endless skies of Lake Tyrrell provide a beautiful backdrop to the unique salt formation on the lake bed. Enjoy the stillness and quiet of the unique environment. The word “Tyrrell” derives from the Aboriginal word “Tyrille” meaning SKY or SPACE- both of which are in ample supply at Lake Tyrrell. During wet and warm periods, Lake Tyrrell turns pink from the red pigment secreted by the pink micro-algae red marine...
Read moreWent for Geminids Dec 13-15. This year wasnt spectacular, besides the moonlight, sky was covered with clouds on 13th pm to 14th am (u can't even catch sunrise/set, 14th pm opened up for sunset which was pretty awesome, then left a very small window towards midnight for stargazer. Managed to catch only the fireballs, about 20ish (from other constellations as well) for 5hrs (stayed for a while after moonset at 330am). Visible Milky Way but moonlight was too bright for a good photo. As for mirror image lake, it's summer so do expect dried lake (and lotsa annoying flies), although it can have exceptions for eg if it rains? Highly dependant of weather. Found a small pool of water as we walked further from the entrance, managed to have some great shots. Overall pleasant...
