The visit started out great, with the friendly lady at the reception area right through to the farm staff we met along the way. However, the visit ended on a terrible note when my two young children were waiting for their turn to enter the rabbit and Guinea pig enclosure. As there were quite a number of children in there, I asked my children to patiently wait outside when suddenly, an older male farm staff who was riding on his tractor, stopped and strode in and told the rest of the parents off for not keeping an eye on their children. I was quite confused as to how he managed to see what the children were doing wrong from that far away when I, who was standing right next to the enclosure and patiently keeping an eye out for any opportunity for my children to enter, could not. Moreover, the manner he spoke to the parents was very condescending, rude and belittling, not to mention, quite terrifying for the young children. A couple of the dads did apologize, although I felt they shouldn't have as I could not see what their children had done wrong but anyway, he continued his tirade and after a good minute or so, stormed off. My two children refused to enter after that incident, despite my reassurances that nothing would happen. I understand accidents do happen from time to time and lapse in attention from the parents do occur as well but for him to blow off at the parents for not keeping an eye on their children and storming in and then out afterwards is simply disrespectful, unprofessional and downright rude. What was meant to be an enjoyable morning family excursion during the festive season for my wife and two young children turned out to be one we thoroughly did not enjoy. We did not stay long after as my children were afraid and both my wife and I were simply disappointed. We will most likely give this place a wide berth next time we're here and most likely discourage our families and friends from this place as we believe everyone should be treated respectfully regardless of their...
Read moreRecently stayed here in the North chalet with my family, the chalet could do with a little a TLC.
Fly screens require replacing as the bugs just come through at night, furniture is a bit outdated and rundown too. Bathroom was fine. Overall it is not very inviting.
No aircon available in this chalet which it could do with in summer, as there is no airflow and when you open the windows and the bugs just come straight in. Also my niece had a cockroach in her bed so it was a bit off putting. My sister was ready to pack up the first night, however I convinced her to look past it and just enjoy the weekend around Margaret River.
The animal farm we cannot fault it was great to go out and see the animals within our own time and to not to be surrounded by outside guests. Our kids loved the animals and the view was good from the chalet too.
If a little bit more effort was put into accommodation it would be a great staycation for a lot of Perth people.
Just a little let down with the accommodation.
Note - Also cleaning the dangling webs off the roof would go along way too and get rid of the portable water dispenser as the water looks green. As this gives me the impression it's not cleaned thoroughly after each...
Read moreWhat was supposed to be a nice family outing turned into disappointment and unnecessary anxiety!
Upon arrival I was told my certified assistance dog was not allowed entry! I explained that as a registered assistance animal she was allowed to enter and I was told again no she was not allowed in as it would upset her animals causing them to kill themselves.
I can assure you that my dog has been through rigorous training as with every other certified assistance dog, you don’t even know she is there!
My assistance dog has never been denied, she has been everywhere from Parliament house to Perth zoo and we have never had a problem.
I think the owner needs a lesson in the law! Under federal law, it is illegal to discriminate against a person with a disability who is using a qualified assistance dog. Denying an assistance animal can carry a hefty fine!
Assistance dogs are a necessary medical tool for people with disabilities that allow us to functions as close to regular people as possible.
Sunflower animal farm please don’t let this happen again, learn the law and remember to be kind, not all...
