Summerland Farm aka House With No Steps has reopened its playground, entry now through the farm shop, all day pass costs $5/ child, $3 per adult, $2 seniors, kids under 2 years free. Companions with cards free. Currently no family pass option. Flat rate entry price no matter what time you get there. 2 changing cabins, toilets are in the Farm Shop. Didn't see a drinking fountain/bubbler. Open 9am - 4pm 7 days. Water feature turns off 3.30pm. Big new cafe seating area at the back of the Farm Shop. Cows and goats to look at, big new fort with slide, water pump with concrete stream, lots of trees for shade and picnics on the grass, a few picnic tables with shade awnings. Wide paths for bikes, skates, wheelchairs, scooters, pushchairs. Flying Fox Ice Blox available $4.50 each. Saw a family with an Esky have it opened for inspection by staff, looking for glass? Kind of like a small version of The Farm at Byron.

We went here for high tea…..it was okay. I think they tried very hard to make it special but it really wasn’t. The tea pots they used were cute but tiny and the water didn’t pour out of them well. The sample foods were okay…scones were tiny about 1” across…and you only got two….desserts were all very sweet and heavy biscuit base. Two sandwiches choices ….neither one were explained….i think one was chicken and had no idea what the other was…some sort of green spread. We didn’t eat much much of the food. Lots of midge flies ..we were constantly squashing them on the table and we were inside the restaurant. The grounds were really pretty but it’s hard to find your way around….it does have sign posts but they are wood and old and you can barely read them. Overall…rather expensive for what you get and I think I would pass on this and just get a nice meal at the restaurant instead.

We initially had a negative experience with trying to book a ticket for an animal encounter - we had arrived on time, but they said we were too late, and didn’t put a lot of effort into helping us. I posted a review with these details and while the kids were playing at the park at the farm, a different staff member approached us to ask about the review. They were very helpful, gave us some context for the situation and gave us complimentary tickets so the kids can hopefully do the encounter another day. I’m not sure we’ll be able to do it while we’re here as my husband will be using the car for work, but we appreciated their efforts to go above and beyond after initially feeling the opposite. We still decided to pay for entry after being turned away from the animal encounter, and the kids had an absolute blast on the play equipment (my daughter says the “best play ground ever”). After hearing and reading a bit more about the ethos of the farm, I’m really encouraged by what they’re doing and won’t let our initial negative experience deter us from returning....

We went for Father’s Day and had such an awesome time! It was a perfect setup for a great day! They covered everything from music, food, lots of drink options and outdoor games setup all around the park. The staff were all super friendly and helped make the atmosphere lively and welcoming. There were families with lots of little kids enjoying the farm animals, playground and games like giant Jenga, connect four and bean bag toss, etc. The DJ was awesome and played lots of fun energetic beats. The food was served with more than generous portions. The sausages were delicious. The potatoes were cooked perfectly (and definitely beat making lunch for dad at home).

The animal feeding was also a highlight. Pretty unique experience which added to the day. The whole vibe was super fun! Best place for families to enjoy Father’s Day in the Northern Rivers. Overall a great way to enjoy fathers day! Well...
