The Australian bush environment is not always a kind place. Monkey Face lookout is no exception.

Monkey Face lookout is an easy drive in a standard car during good weather, a bit of rain or some high winds and you can get stuck for a bit.

The roads within this national park are dirt and pretty well maintained, but a storm event can turn it into a giant clay slip-n-slide and then even in a well equipped 4wd it can be difficult to traverse these tracks.

Bushfires are another real danger during fire weather. Always look on the Rural Fire Brigade website for fire weather warnings before going bush.

But if all is well and you get there it is a good lookout that provides...

We probably went with high expectations but overall it was an OK experience - the drive uphill in our small car probably had something to do with it. The last 5-6 KMs aren't that smooth so that made it a little difficult for us. Overall it wasn't bad but one wonders, with a 4 year old in the backseat of a small car, if it was all worth it.

Not much to see there though. But If you are looking for a nice quiet time, with a decent view to stare while you ponder on as life goes by, sure go for it. I mean it in all...

We decided to explore this lookout randomly and we didn’t expect most of the way to be unsealed road. We were in a SUV so we were able to make it ok. The lookout itself was OK. Monkey face lookout. Camping area with flat level ground. Careful with small children as with most of the lookouts there are no safety rails near the cliff edges. Easy walk up hill to the gap Creek lookout. (Path is quite close to the edge) Giant boulders all along the walk.
