Breathtaking Bounty: Keppel Lookout. Keppel Lookout isn't just a scenic vista; it's a revelation. Nestled amidst the towering giants of Marysville, this lookout punches far above its weight in delivering an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or a weekend explorer, Keppel Lookout will leave you breathless in the best possible way. The Ascent: A Rewarding Challenge There are two ways to experience Keppel Lookout: the scenic drive or the exhilarating hike. The drive offers a comfortable approach, with plenty of parking at the summit for you to disembark and soak in the panorama. But for those seeking a more immersive experience, the Keppel Lookout Trail is an absolute must. The initial climb is a heart-pumper, a symphony of switchbacks that test your resolve. But fear not, for the payoff is magnificent. With every step, the anticipation builds, the surrounding forest morphing into a tapestry of stringybark and mountain ash. Keep an eye out for kookaburras chuckling in the trees and the shy forms of wallabies flitting through the undergrowth – a delightful reminder that you're sharing this wild beauty with nature's finest residents. The Grand Unveiling: A Feast for the Senses And then, you crest the final rise, and bam! The world explodes before you. The panorama that unfolds from Keppel Lookout is nothing short of breathtaking. Rolling hills unfurl like a rumpled emerald blanket, punctuated by the jagged peaks of the Yarra and Cathedral Ranges. The mighty Goulburn River snakes its silver thread through the valleys below, a vital artery feeding the lifeblood of this fertile landscape. Words fail to capture the sheer scale and majesty of the view. It's a scene that demands to be experienced, not just described. Take a deep breath and fill your lungs with crisp mountain air. Let the panorama wash over you, feel the tension melt from your shoulders, and allow yourself to be utterly present in this moment of pure, natural wonder. Beyond the View: A Hiker's Paradise Keppel Lookout is just the beginning of an incredible adventure. The trail continues onwards, offering further opportunities to delve deeper into the heart of the forest. You can venture on to Steavenson Falls, a cascading jewel nestled amongst towering ferns, or explore other lookouts like Oxley and Del La Rue, each offering unique perspectives on this ever-changing landscape. A Place for All Seasons: The beauty of Keppel Lookout transcends the seasons. In spring, wildflowers paint the landscape in vibrant hues. Summer offers a chance to bask in the warm sunshine and enjoy the panoramic views under clear blue skies. Autumn transforms the forest into a fiery blaze of color, and winter, with a touch of frost clinging to the peaks, creates a scene of serene tranquility. A Final Note: A Timeless Treasure Keppel Lookout is more than just a scenic spot; it's a place to reconnect with nature, challenge yourself, and create memories that will last a lifetime. So lace up your boots, pack your picnic basket, and prepare to be awestruck. Keppel Lookout awaits, a timeless treasure trove of natural beauty, just waiting to be explored. Be ready for a small off-road experience if driving. Please note there is no toilet facility available here.

It's so beautiful in the sunny day, a bit windy but feel like I'm in blue mountain! Highly recommend to come here for a great view

Love this lookout, it's worth the drive up from Marysville main Street or you can walk up the Keppel track that starts near Steavenson falls, it's a great track, very easy to follow and wonderful views along the way. It is a bit steep at times but very achieveable with anyone with at least a moderate level of fitness. You can drive right up to the lookout so if you are with someone who is not very mobile you can drive to within 50m of the lookout -the carpark isn't sealed though and there is no toilet up there, the carpark can fit probably about 12 cars and there are a lot of animals you can spot on your drive up including lyre birds. If you come to Marysville you should definitely drive-up as long as the day is quite clear so you can see all the mountains in the distance including the Cathedrals.

Keppel Lookout has a great view of Marysville and the mountains beyond. The viewing platform is nicely designed and you may have it entirely to yourself, especially on a weekday.

The lookout is accessible by car but the drive on the unsealed road is hairy in places, especially if you're in a sedan or a small car. Go slow and be prepared for your vehicle to get dusty. But is the view worth...
