My husband purchased a packet of cigarettes 10 minutes ago, he walked outside the store to find the packaging crushed and damaged at the bottom, resulting with 4 cigarettes inside broken and crushed. He walked back into the store within 60 seconds to report the faulty item, and requested a refund/exchange. The owner refused to replace the damaged packet and also refused to refund the faulty product. She offered a $3 partial refund, when the cost of the 4 damaged cigarettes which we had paid $4.60 (pro rata). We had been loyal customers spending around $200 per week in this store trying to support small business since it opened, however we will now take our business back to Coles where they do not sell damaged goods and provide some level of customer service. I'm happy with how they've handled the issue I raised, and can understand how the issue occurred given the mould was well hidden within the bag. As I saw it before eating the product, no harm done at the end of the day. Hopefully they can keep an eye on this kind of product going forward and pick it up earlier. Changed my rating to reflect the store's response.
