We had a terrible experience with Melbourne Christmas Tree Farm and I could not recommend them to anyone in good conscience. Communication was extremely poor and our tree was delivered two days after our requested date. We received multiple assurances that it would be arriving at different times on different days, including one call at 8:30pm the day after it was supposed to arrive saying it was half an hour away. The office told us the drivers were delivering until 2am so we stayed up all night waiting - the tree never arrived and didn’t show up until well into the next day after several more phone calls.
Trying to get a reasonable refund or even an acknowledgement that we had been screwed around was like pulling teeth. Again, multiple calls and emails that were never returned. Eventually two weeks later I managed to get the phone number of the manager from one of the office staff. The manager was rude and dismissive of our complaints. He said we getting back to us had been on his “to-do list” (for two weeks?), that the tree had eventually been delivered so we had no reason to complain (refusing to acknowledge that we had been outright lied to multiple times and wasted several hours of sleep waiting for the damn tree), and that they had a “two-day delivery window policy” so there was no grounds for a refund (note: there is absolutely no mention of this ‘policy’ anywhere on the website and I’m pretty sure it was a recent invention to try and get us off his back - at any rate it was definitely not a binding policy).
He eventually agreed to speak to the owners and we were issued with a refund for 1/3 of the price we paid, so we effectively got the tree for cost price. While I appreciate that we did eventually receive some sort of compensation, it was certainly not worth the stress and wasted time (if we think of the refund as an hourly wage for waiting for the tree from 8:30pm into the wee hours of the morning, it still works out to less than minimum wage). Unless this place radically rethinks its management and who it hires as contractors, we’ll be going to the Scout Hall for...
Read moreBuying a christmas tree from Real Christmas Trees Melbourne and Melbourne Christmas Tree Farm was one of the worst experiences of customer service I've ever had. I had family from overseas waiting at the family flat for a delivery. The tree was delivered to the billing address not the shipping and then there was almost zero communication between the company and myself. When they finally delivered the tree 5 hours later, they didn't complete the order as promised. The owner of the company tried to justify the mistakes by telling me the structure of the business and saying I should understand. When it was time for the pickup they told me the wrong pickup date 3 times. I complained and once again instead of trying to fix the situation they justified it. Finally they sent everyone in the pickup neighbourhood an email saying they'd given the wrong pickup date but didn't bcc everyone (a gross breach of privacy). The tree was nice but not worth all of the trouble I had with the people involved in the business. Will not be purchasing...
Read moreWe have been going to this Christmas tree farm for 6 years and always had an amazing experience however this year was a bit disappointing. A girl named Lina who was situated in the paying booth in the field accused my husband and I of not paying for a tree. Now understand that we had two young children, we spent half an hour looking for a tree for them, walking back with this tree to pay for it then to have someone accuse us of trying to avoid paying for it. She reckons she has good memory and started being sarcastic saying "oh you guys must have twins then." The most appalling customer service and not even apologising after she realised she was mistaken! I dont know if we will ever come back after this. What was supposed to be a pleasant, nostalgic experience has now left myself and my husband put...
