St Helena Marketplace — Local services in Melbourne

I adore St Helena marketplace. I used to live very close to it and it was my favourite place to shop. The butchers is fantastic, the chicken shop has good food and the sushi shop is good too. The pharmacy sells the most amazing array of gifts, I always find things there for presents for people. There's also a bottle shop, bakery, deli (oh gosh I could live in the deli), a cake shop/cafe which sells delicious crostoli, other fast food places on the outside of the marketplace, a Woolworth's and a newsagent. The parking is just inadequate for this area, it probably needs to be replanned and laid out. Cars just seem to go everywhere and even with a roundabout at the entry people still seem to be blocking the road or carpark. It's too busy to feel safe crossing the roads to get inside too. But once inside it's clean and tidy. There's the supermarket, bakery, pharmacy, some cafes and restaurants, newsagency, fruit shop,...

I tried to stop this venture when it was threatening the tranquility of our city outdoors rural St Helena District 30 years ago. Now I love it as a village centre that we can walk or drive to for our food shopping takeaways gifts papers books etc without ever having to go to town we even have a local for medical clinic.
