On the 18th of August 2018 I visited this winery on the way to my family's country home. I took two friends from work and we are were all shocked by the service. it still do this day annoys me hence the late review. The complete disregard, lack of service and unapproachable, uninviting atmosphere was despicable. There are PLENTY of other places to go around this cellar door that are much friendly, better experience and much more detailed tastings. If you go to this winery you will be told ' here is another white' and the tasting gets as detailed as ' this one is elegant'. We were three young girls on a road trip and were not given the time of day, service was horrible, we were pretty well thrown wine and told ' this is another white' and then watched as the person servicing us didnt even look at us and walked off and gave detailed explanations to others and engaged with others. It wasnt busy, and even so it took over ten minutes to be served the next tasting and typically took us having to ask if we could try the next wine which would be given to us in a rude and disinterested way. We continued to try and make the best of our tasting, even took photos together between the time we were forgotten about and were laughed at and ridiculed by the staff. It is extremely disappointing to be treated like this in a place. We personally believe they were racist towards us being with us having multicultural backgrounds. I have since ensured to let everyone i know that is doing winery tours ( including private bus tours ) not to visit this place. I hope they take a long hard look at themselves and do not disregard any customer again. Everyone deserves the same service regardless of age, culture and so on. Do...

Great Pizza, But Service and Wine Experience Could Improve

Our recent lunch at St Hubert's Cellar Door restaurant had some definite highlights, but also a few areas that could be refined. We managed to arrive just before the main rush, which was lucky because it quickly became very loud and busy.

On the food front, the pizza was actually very nice, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The chicken wings were also a big hit – definitely recommend those! However, the overall service experience was a bit lacking. Ordering solely via a QR code felt impersonal, and there was a noticeable lack of explanation about the food or the process from the staff. We also found ourselves serving our own water, which was a bit unexpected for a cellar door restaurant setting. To top it off, our food didn't arrive together, and the pizza took quite a while to come out after the other dishes.

As for the wine, we found it not quite to our liking. We ended up sticking to Prosecco, which was enjoyable!

While the food (especially the pizza and wings) was good, and the setting is beautiful, the slightly disjointed service and the wine not quite hitting the mark held it back from a perfect score. With a bit more attention to service and a more engaging wine experience, this place has...

If I could put 0 stars for the St Hubert’s cellar door I would. I went for my birthday to Quarters for a birthday lunch which was wonderful.. walked over to the cellar door and my day was ruined. The host Tony was nasty to our group from the moment we walked in. We were looking around to determine if we wanted to do wine tasting after lunch and after we had made the decision to do so, we took some photos in your beautiful grounds. Tony commenced his sarcastic, rude and demeaning commentary and behaviour towards our group, and then proceeded to lock some of our group out on the balcony while we awaited our wine tasting to commence. We were left embarrassed and felt like we were being treated like animals. We knocked on the door to be allowed re entry, and he looked over at us multiple times, and while other guests alerted him to our call to be allowed back in, he responded......."they can wait!" After I said it was my birthday and he was ruining my experience, he said, “just go”. He was awful, awful, awful and I am so disappointed to have been treated so badly. The restaurant was absolutely wonderful, but definitely do not go to the cellar door, if you want your...

A group of 4, we visited Monday the 30th of December with beautiful summer day. The place was stunning and beautiful view from the cellars door. But my wine tasting experience was quite different compared to other wineries around the area. The person who took us for the table just explained to choose from 2 different selection of wine group which were $10 option for 3 glasses or $15 option for 3 glasses. He just asked us to choose which 3 wines we preferred to taste. When we were served, we expected for information about wine in person instead of just reading the information on the paper. Is this their standard way of service ? Or just busy end of the year, therefore they couldn’t spend time for each group? Also other wineries , if we purchase wine bottles , they don’t charge for tasting fee. We bought 2 bottles but still charged for tasting. I guess each winery run the business different ways. Overall it was good experience, nothing negative. Just it was different.

A popular winery with stunning architecture and beautiful views! The tasting experience was enjoyable, though the space tends to get quite lively with large group tastings, and the acoustics make it a bit noisy. If you prefer a more intimate and cozy atmosphere, this might not be the ideal spot. That said, our server was young, cheerful, and lovely—we really appreciated his friendly service. As for the wines, here are my personal tasting notes (keep in mind that everyone’s palate is different!): • NV The Stag Blanc de Blanc – Light, sparkling, and really refreshing. • 2024 The Stag Pinot Grigio – Crisp, slightly sweet, with an apple cider feel. • 2024 The Stag Rosé – A bit too watery and plain for my taste. • 2022 The Stag Pinot Noir – Pleasant but could have more depth. • 2023 The Stag Tempranillo Shiraz – A safe, easy-drinking choice, though it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Overall, a good visit with friendly service and a scenic setting.
