Lake Moondarra — Local services in Mount Isa

A wonderful place to visit. The views around the lake are fantastic, especially those looking fom the new road that snakes it's way along the lake shore from the lake entrance back to the main road (remember to turn left at the park entrance and just follow the road; you can't miss it). All of the views looking from any of the lookouts is also worth a visit - my favourite is the one just beside the dam where you can see the lake and parklands on your left and the entire Leichhardt River and Selwyn Ranges to the right. Lake Moondarra Kitesurfing - 4 out of 5 stars as the wind can be a little gusty. typically ranges from 8 to 12knts so light wind gear is essential. So it is possible, in this location you can skim over the top of the weeds.....3 to 4 days week the wind picks up over 10 knots.
