We stayed 3 nights and 2 full days at Mowbray Park. We were in The Chapel (3 bedroom cottage) so we self catered. We thought this was the perfect amount of time to experience the farm.||We were looking for a farm stay that had some sort of structure to entertain our two children (nearly 3 years and nearly 5 years old). I donāt really understand the criticism of the previous reviewers as we loved that there was a schedule each day. You could be as involved as you wanted. It meant as parents we didnāt have to come up with a plan for the day - it was provided by the farming experts! Holidaying with small children isnāt exactly relaxing but if they are interested in what is going on around them, it makes it a lot easier for the adults. ||We also chose Mowbray Park as it wasnāt too far from Sydney so an easy drive. ||There was time to feed the animals, cow milking, demonstration of sheep shearing, feeding the cows, whip cracking and boomerang throwing, lots of tractor rides, pony rides, damper making and tea drinking. It was all very well organised and executed. ||Blair and Jacqui who run the farm were welcoming and friendly. All the staff we encountered were polite and friendly. We really enjoyed Blairās talk about sheep shearing. His passion and knowledge for this topic were captivating. ||Our kids enjoyed playing with some of the other children who were staying at the farm. There is a small playground with equipment which was great for their age group. We also met some nice adults. There was no pressure to socialise but everyone was pretty friendly. ||The accommodation in The Chapel was basic but fine. It was clean and had everything we needed. Having said that, a vegetable peeler and microwave-proof bowl would have come in handy. Beds were comfortable and the cottage had enough space for a family of four. I canāt comment on the food apart from the communal morning teas provided which were delicious - home made muffins and Anzac biscuits. ||A great option for families wanting a holiday that keeps the kids entertained without being too far from Sydney....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a great few days we had, time to digital detox and just enjoy time with each other. We booked Tiny house and was shown the way by the lovely Chantel - process simple easy and friendly. Tiny house is tiny, suited myself & son, beds comfy but due to the mobile air/heater not much room for your bags. modern clean & had all we needed. We enjoyed being city folk trying to light a decent fire. We were located with a nice walk to the playground and Dining Hall. I was so happy not to have to cook, meals were delicious and served promptly, with the team happy to help and serve. service with a smile. Meals are all the same, kids smaller, and served promptly, food was great, (if you're after Arty Farty million $$ lobster, stay elsewhere,) we were really happy with all meals. Sadly due to Covid, no tractor rides, but we did use our legs & walk to the animals, We enjoyed feeding the animals & pony rides. The nights were cold, our tiny house had plenty of blankets, but we needed the heater over night, the mobile aircon/heater sounded like a jumbo jet, and having to release water out of unit every 2hours, is annoying, we were grateful for the smaller heater and used it instead. |We had a wonderful time, and loved the space and all that the Farm Stay offered, special mention to the Tan dog, and her hilarious tennis action, I can't describe how funny she is, swapping sides for the serve, occasionally catching a ball, if you want to play tennis, expect a 4 legged "ball...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed at Mowbray park farm on the recent long weekend and felt the bedroom situation for our family of 5 really was a shame. We were allocated room 5 of the Magellan lodge with a bunk bed that was rickety and unstable with a safety bar almost falling off and there was no safe way to access the upper bunk, no steps nor ladder as required by Australian standards.
This meant that we did not feel safe or comfortable using the bunk bed so our children and I (the 4 of us) slept on the queen bed while my husband slept on the single bed next to the bunk. We believe the bedroom arrangement for our family of 5 was more than lacking, particularly in light of the high amount we paid and the other 7 rooms of the lodge that were locked and unattended. Those unattended rooms, it appears online, contained bunk beds that follow the relevant Australian standards for bunk beds.
We otherwise enjoyed our stay, activities were fun and would have stayed on another night to enjoy the facilities and book in horse-riding for 4, that is, if it weren't for the beds and bedroom set up. We were truly just so disappointed all the more by the manner with which our concern was dismissively handled by the reception staff when the issue was raised.
We hope and strongly recommend that the issue with the bunk bed is taken into serious consideration and that it is either repaired or replaced before any future letting of the room to other guests. Indeed we wrote in to reiterate but received...
