Lovely hidden gem a few kms from Merimbula. The hike, especially the way back, is steep but not be deterred as it’s worth the effort. Make sure you have good footwear on. The swim hole and waterfall are lovely. Lots of families and youngsters around when we visited. While we were content with taking a dip in the natural pool we were enthralled by the bunch of teens climbing up the almost vertical walls around the pool and rock diving. Seemed risky initially but should be safe as it looked like they were having a great time.
Tip: the route does involve an unsealed stretch. Believe it was approx 2kms. 4x4 is ideal but perfectly doable in a two-wheel drive. We saw a couple of small cars (Polos, Mazda 2) in the parking so if you have anything bigger or better...
Read moreAmazing spot to swim. The water was so refreshing, the views were stunning and the walk was enjoyable. Not a lot of signs directing to the starting point though, but when you go down the dirt road and get to 3 roads, go down the middle road and keep going until you reach a picnic area. (My GPS told me we had arrived before we got to the picnic area, but keep doing down the middle road and you'll find it) There is a steep walk down to the creek you cross so wear some good walking shoes. Once there though, it was sooo worth it. We loved swimming around the water hole, under the small waterfall and jumping off the side...
Read moreConsider your footware before coming here. Definitely wear runners or some sturdy shoes. Beautiful natural feature of the area. Lacking signage for access. We walked down the steep gravel road and found ourselves at the river. We didn't know about the access trail on the opposite side of the creek so walked up along the rocks and banks to the waterfall. The water level at the time made access pretty good just having to step over a 1 m gap over the flowing creek to access the walking track. Had a swim in the waterfall and checked how deep it was but not game to jump off the...
