Hi, I wish to speak to you from the heart. I visited New Norcia monastery, not long ago. I took a busload of friends there. I was responsible, Incorrectly in my opinion for respecting the costs of the people I was transporting. I cut costs. It was the first time I had been there. I am saying to you that this is a bucket list experience.I do not believe you will exceed $ 250.Do not skim on costs. There is an accommodation. I am saying to you this is a bucket list experience. Do not skim on costs. There is an accommodation. There is exceptional food. To me, the spirituality of this complex was beautiful. I went there, and a friend of mine , Vic Haywood, had prepared a stone at the cemetery entrance to respect children , without name, who had died. How do I explain to you how spiritual that was? A beautiful woman in our tour group saw a child's grave that was overgrown with weeds. She’s a woman, painful restricted movement , yet she weeded that grave to make it beautiful for a baby. When you go, if you go, see one tour guide, Jim. I did not take up this offer of a tour guide. I should have. I will in the future. Quads to Dom Dominic, a monk. Make it your bucket list experience, and stay overnight. Accommodation is on-site. I can say no more because I’m talking too...
Read moreLovely old architecture inside and out you can take amazing photos, nice relaxing environment and early settle history very interesting. Plus the Bakery... , which is half the reason we went was closed for 3 weeks ... Not meationed on the web site we would have gone when it was open. Hotel only serves between 12 and 2.3 . Had my elderly Parents so they didn't want to do full 2hr tour walking everywhere as the temp can get quite hot there to.. maybe a mini bus for some of the elderly and others who are unable to walk as well.. you can drive yourself around but i did notice a few people with caravans which would have been to hard to maneuver around in the small lanes and tracks around the area. Maybe some interacting tours e.g. how they make the olive oil.. make your own bottle of oil or soap and charge accordingly for the tour.. So we could only go in to the chapel and 2 room mud brick house. and then pay $10 for a Museum tour of a three storey building which the elevator only goes to the 1st floor and only ac on the 2 floor only thing which had been updated since the 70 was the elevator... Anyhow we had a lovely day and nice meal ... definitely check it out needs some updating to accommodate for...
Read moreMy husband and I love to come here for a drive, even if only to buy a bottle of Port and some wood fired bread! We often bring a picnic with us and enjoy the peace and quiet. I have come here a few times on my own and stayed in the guesthouse for some time in prayer and contemplation. It is a quiet, serene environment ideal for this. The rooms are old but clean and comfortable. The price per night includes three meals, breakfast which is a help yourself style with cereals, breads and condiments provided. Lunch is three courses and comes with a carafe of the Benedictine rose wine. Dinner is two courses and also comes with wine. Every time I have come I have met some beautiful people and enjoyed wonderful times of fellowship. The tour is well worth the money and gives you an insight in to what lies behind the buildings. If you come here expecting entertainment you may be disappointed, in a world that is over stimulated it can be hard to adapt to a place such as this! But if you are seeking rest and direction in your life I highly recommend this little...
