It is a must do thing if you ever visit Lord Howe Island. Book the tour as early as you can and monitor the weather and change the booking if needed. I visited the island twice with a total of more than 2 weeks, there was only one day we were able to get to Ball's Pyramid. This world's highest sea stack is amazing. Looking at it from sea level lets you realise how high it is. And the best part was the snorkeling around the Ball's Pyramid. There were huge rocks at the bottom of the sea floor. The water was so crystal clear that it was a wonderland. Biodiversity is unbelievable. Absolutely worth the visit!

While difficult to get to, our visit to the rock was lovely. The accommodation was a bit noisy , with cackling seabirds keeping the children up most of the night, and of course high tide left us all drenched in cold seawater. However, the food at the islands sole restaurant (aptly named ‘The Captain’s Ball’s) was excellent. Be warned to book well in advance as there is only one table (made of stone) at...

5G isn’t very good out here. Waiting for Telstra to install a tower at the top so I can binge watch Netflix with the phasmids and petrels. Cave accommodation, views and service is spot on. 7/11 would also be handy here for my Ben and Jerry’s and krispy kreme addiction. Even a sail-thru macdonalds so I can get my filet-o-fish...
