Every time we travel along here we get stuck in heavy traffic. It's just as well John Holland are doing MAJOR roadworks on both sides of the bridge. Hopefully this will ease the congestion. Otherwise, it's a beautiful old bridge, with lots of history.

An old bridge spanning the Hunter River at Hexham that is able to be lifted in centre as taller boats require entry to and from the Hunter River, not sure if that ever happens as this is the main Pacific Highway entry to Newcastle from the North.

Hexham bridge is great in you need to get over the other side lol, fish spot under the bridge is good with plenty of parking & a boat ramp, just need to fight off the million of mosquitoes

Absolutely disgraceful the things people do to a pristine area. Filth everywhere. Old clothes, smashed up bottles, Fishing line, broken bottles. Graffiti. Probably from the same heroes that trashed the car. I don't blame council one bit for not letting their workers touch this filth. I just feel sorry for the council workers. Show some decency and respect. I'm sure you'd love it if we found out where YOU live and dump filth all over your front yard. And it's older people doing it!° GRUBS UPDATE: The Council mowed it. Looks loads better. COUNCIL ARE ON IT. Well done for your hard work. Unfortunately, more household items dumped. . 😡 Imagine working on the road works and coming across these criminals!? Maybe camers on bridge filming any anti-social criminal behaviour 🤔? 27/04/24 All mowed.... looking beautiful. 28/04/24 Drove past again.... Household rubbish everywhere AGAIN!! 24/7 NEEDS SECURITY SITTING AT END OF ROAD NEAR THE HEXHAM CLUB!! MASSIVE FINES WARRANTED AND THE TIPPERS ORDERED TO CLEAN IT...

The bridge is a functional yet not beautiful reminder of the excellent capability and ingenuity of our local homegrown manufacturing sector, it provides excellent views of the Hunter River, however, any attempt to travel east or west of not readily accommodated.

Nice view of the old and now defunct and derelict Oak Milkshake Bar which was a necessary and interesting yet not all that revelatory stop along your family journey.

Fishing and diving are not permitted for to there constantly and worryingly lowering levels of testosterone amongst the decision makers of the local town...

A mate and I recently utilised this bridge to cross the mighty hunter river. To our delight it was operable! During our crossing we encountered a couple of sharp bumps but that is to be expected when a bridge is built to open and close. Overall the crossing was well lit with adequate room for ourselves and fellow traffic on the road. Can’t wait for our next...
