The National Parks and their contractors are fixing up the walkways which look fantastic and will be great when complete. I would suggest taking plenty of water and some Aeroguard as the March flies are deadly.

Probably the best bang for buck walk/hike in the area, not many other people on the trail and amazing views at the end! (Wayyyyyy better than the Kosciuszko hike.)

Pleasant 5 km return hike to the rock with plenty of great sceneries along the way. Very quiet, not many people. Simply enjoyable.
