Stunning finish to the Larapinta Trail. Having trekked 14 days from Alice Springs, this final leg was completed under a full moon before dawn, walking with our headlamps turned off. Utterly bewitching and really made us reflect on the thousands of years of occupation of this land before European arrival. Crowded on top but views of the rising sun (and setting moon) were easy to find and well worth sharing! WARNING: can be dangerously cold at night, and dangerously hot during the day. Be prepared for extreme conditions and a six hour hike.

Views abound! Recommend very early start min 3 hours before sunrise. Relatively easy walk with a moderate climb initially, undulating, rocky underfoot. We prepped for the cold and wind - lots of layers needed for the summit, as well as snacks and a hot drink for the top as you watch the sun come up Dont miss the shadow of Mt Sonder on the West side just after sunrise it’s pretty spectacular too

Unbelievable view and well signed hike. Cell repeater at the top which was useful for keeping in touch. Started around 4 and made it to the top right at sunrise. At a leisurely pace it'll take roughly six hours round trip to get to the summit and back down.
