Inwhich they did I had a stressfull situation for over 2 weeks regarding a Juvenile magpie with its legs tied together with string and I needed some assistance to catch it , Luckily the Magpie comes to our house with its parents every day but I noticed it was getting extremely weak and now it has a large stick tangled in the string . They dropped off 2 different nets to our house . A few failed attempts to trap the Magpie but finally got it this morning 🤗 BOY THEY HAVE SOME STRENGTH IN THOSE BEAKS ..... got it in side and managed to cut 90% of the string from its swollen legs and cut his legs free , however some of the string stayed in beded . So we went straight to There shelter before they opened I rang the emergency number and they organised a volunteer to come early and open up , Baby Magpie will be treated and they will get the rest of the string off its poor leg . Then I can pick it up and release it to its family. Thku so so much Darling range ! These people have a heart of gold 💛 I can't wait to get back baby...
Read moreA massive thank you to Darling Range Wildlife Shelter for their amazing response to my call about a young joey in my garden yesterday. I recognised this joey as she and her mum are in my garden every evening for food and water. She is never away from her mum so I got concerned as she didn't look well and mum was no where in sight. I called the wildlife shelter and they sent out volunteers to save the joey. The joey got scared and bolted down to the other end of our property and we found mum down there. We thought mum was injured too as she seemed very slow to move. It wasn't safe to get close due to the situation so a darter was called to sedate both mum and joey in order to assess them. Turned out mum was fine but the joey had a broken arm. They put a splint on her arm and after speaking with their team they were going to organise surgery to repair the arm. Both the mum and joey were taken to keep them together. We thank these guys enough for all they did. It was a great outcome for the kangaroos. Hopefully the joey makes a full recovery...
