Visiting Blue Poles Wines was an absolute delight, made even more memorable by meeting Mark, the winemaker himself. From the moment we arrived, Mark’s hospitality set the tone for the experience (fresh bread, olive oil, cheese, and crackers were laid out), creating an atmosphere that was both welcoming and relaxed. His thoughtful approach made the tasting feel less like a formal affair and more like being invited into a friend’s home to share something special. We began with the Chardonnay, a beautifully balanced wine that struck just the right note for my palate. From there, we moved to the Allouran, a Merlot and Cabernet Franc blend that quickly became a personal favourite. Bright with fruit and lifted by a vibrant acidity, it’s a wine I cannot wait to revisit after some time in the cellar. The highlight of the tasting, however, was the 100% Merlot. While still young, the 2023 vintage already shows remarkable promise. Soft and inviting now, it hints at the elegance and depth it will develop with age—I can only imagine how glorious it will become in the years ahead. Mark’s passion for his craft shines through in every glass, and his ability to share that passion with such warmth made the visit unforgettable. Blue Poles is truly a hidden gem, and I’m already looking forward to returning to see how these wines continue to evolve.

A Must-Visit for Wine Lovers!

Blue Poles Winery is a hidden gem that delivers an exceptional wine-tasting experience. The tasting with Mark, the winemaker, was truly unforgettable. His incredible wine knowledge and evident passion for his craft made the entire experience both educational and inspiring. Mark’s ability to explain the nuances of each wine, from its origins to the intricate winemaking process, added so much depth to the tasting.

The selection was outstanding, with standout reds that were rich and complex. Their Chardonnay was a highlight—elegant, crisp, and perfectly balanced. The carefully curated cheese pairing elevated the tasting even further, demonstrating the thoughtfulness behind every aspect of the experience.

Tasting at Mark’s beautiful home made it all the more personal and intimate. This is not just a visit to a winery; it’s an opportunity to connect with a true artisan. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or simply love great wine, Blue Poles Winery is an experience you can’t miss. We’ll...

This is a truly unique Margaret River tasting experience.

The wines at Blue Poles are magnificent. We tried a beautiful Chardonnay and three reds: the Allouran blend, Reserve Merlot and Reserve Cabernet Franc. All the reds had a refrained elegance and class that reminded me somewhat of Bordeaux - delicious wines with fine tannins - and were extremely good value for their obvious quality.

The experience itself at Blue Poles is magnificent. The tasting room is part of Mark's house and we felt like he was truly welcoming us into his home. Mark's knowledge of his vineyard, his wines and the region are fantastic, and we thoroughly enjoyed the stories he told us (crème brûlée anyone?).

Tastings are by appointment, but it is well worth the effort of a visit...
