We did the 1 day seafood and wildlife tour hosted by Pete. It's was a private tour (just myself and my friend) and it was 1000% worth it. Such a cool experience and amazing day! We started with Pete picking us up and then he showed us around the town of Port Lincoln from the ground, showed us the boats and ships and how they operate for this huge fishing town. We then made our way to higher ground where we saw the entire town and the coast. We then made our way to a local and family owned restaurant that also processes their own fish. There we did a tour of the different types of fish, including sharks, that the family processes, how the fish come in, how they are cleaned, how they are packaged and shipped. They opened fresh oysters and we got to try them right then and there! After we made our way into the restaurant where they had a sampler platter of fresh/raw, pickled and smoked assortment of fish (scallops, octopus, mussels, etc). We then ordered lunch, we chose the fish and chips, and it was amazing, so light and fresh. We actually chose a wine, by total accident, that was made by our tour guide and it was perfect with fish! We continued the tour by heading up to another spectacular view of the coast, and then when 4 wheeling through sand dunes and to a pristine beach where the sand was ridiculously soft! From there we headed to see the Koalas and Kangaroos in the wild and ended with a cheese and fruit platter (and wine) at a house built in the 1800s. Overall very cool experience! Definetly recommend! What to know: You will have access to a car most of the day, so feel free to bring a bag with a swim suit/towel for the beach. We wore tennis shoes, would probably recommend for the fish tour so you don't slip and slide on the wet floors, but you can bring flip flops for the beach. Definetly bring a phone or camera! We brought water and drinks, but they actually provide them on the tour, so you don't need them.
Thanks Pete for the...
Read moreWe took two tours with Doug and they were both great adventures! Lincoln National Park has amazing scenery, wildlife and great sand dunes! Doug took us 4 wheeling! I hadn't done that since I was young! Fantastic picnic lunch of prawns, chicken, a to die for salad, wine or beer! Yum! Grapes and watermelon for dessert. We also went to Mekkira and saw plenty of koalas and their Joey's! Then after this really jam packed day had another little pick me up of cheese, fruit and wine. We were stuffed! The next day we went to Coffin Bay and learned so much about the oyster farming and other aqua culture happening on this little peninsula! Doug is so full of local knowledge in so many different areas, amazed us. One of the tours Australian Coastal Safaris had lined up didn't get the minimum, but they set us up with another great tour of the marina in Port Lincoln. The largest combined commercial and residential marina in Australia. It was a super three days and my husband and I both would recommend them if you are visiting and want adventure.
I forgot to mention the emus, kangaroos, Australian long nose fur seals, white bellied Sea Eagle and so much more. The best part was it was in their natural habitat and not sanctuary or a zoo! We'll remember this for a...
Read moreWe recommend Australia Coastal Safaris 100%!! We did the full day Exceptional Port Lincoln Seafood and Widlife Tour. It was a brilliant day from start to finish. We got to know the town from David's in-depth knowledge of its history, industry, and people. The 4W drive over the incredible sand dunes in Lincoln National Park along the stunning coastline literally took our breath away. It was so much fun and so beautiful. We were amazed to see and learn about the Stromatolites along Sleaford Mere. The crown in the jewel must be the visit to Mikkirra Station. David's knowledge about this special place, along with his stories about animal encounters, made the visit so special. We spotted dozens of koalas, kangaroos, and emus. We were served a delicious lunch in the bush by an open fire, and the day ended with snacks and wine by a gum tree where koalas were munching on their dinner right next to us. A magical experience and the best tour we have ever done. Roman &...
