This place was an oasis along the Oodnadatta track! Tired & expecting a simple camp ground we were excited to find 'The date shack'. Not only did it have a place to pull up for the night but also a natural hot spring, a museum & lots all things 'date' cooked delicious & fresh. Fresh, buttered date scones for breakfast was a treat considering we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. Don't miss this spot on the track, take a dip, eat a scone, go to the museum & then eat some date brownies...for energy purposes only š«£. The amenities are so clean the owners deserve an applause. Natural beauty surrounds you every way you looked, truly stunning sunrise š . We absolutely loved this place! Thanks for having us & we'll definitely be spreading the word. Try the Oodnadatta track...& Coward springs 'Date shack' fair dinkum awesome š¤ ...oh & great coffee too! Well done guys I'd love to own...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely loved our stay at Coward Springs, a true oasis in the desert. $18 per person for camping.
Great eco-friendly campsite with a natural spring/spa, and small museum sharing the history of Coward Springs. The campsites have been really well thought out with eco elements and are nicely private from one another with trees and vegetation.
The fire heated showers and toilet facilities were very clean, I have never experienced a long drop toilet that didnāt smell, and these didnāt even slightly smell!
The date produce purchased from the onside date farm/shop - chocolate dates, date and walnut slice and some date jam were delicious.
Highly recommend a stop...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA warm refreshing dip in what feels like the middle of nowhere š® Whereās your favourite artesian spa that we should add to our list? Roughly 130km north from Marree along the Oodnadatta track you come across this desert oasis. The water sits year round at 29°C so visiting in the middle of the year it feels incredibly warm š. Entry is $2 per adult and that includes a map to help you find your way around the wetlands walk, entry to the museum and of course access to the ānaturalā spa for a dip. Our suggestion, do the walk first then swim! The air feels very cold after getting out of the water š .
