The drive ins is a great place as a movie experience with a significant other, a family, or even by yourself if you're bothered. Be cautioned about having too full of a car though, as the people in your back seat might not havr an optimal view. One of the great things that I like about being at the drive ins is that you get to enjoy the movie at the leisure of your own comfortable level of volume, so this experience could be a hit or miss depending on how good your speakers are. I'm not saying you need the latest tech fitted into your vehicle but because the system works by adjusting your radio station to the provided frequency, if your car has radio malfunctions then you mightn't have a wonderful experience. You can however, pull up a seat over at the candy bar located between both of the two screens because they have audio playing for the movie over there, so you can drive into the movies and not even watch inside your car if that's what you prefer. Some people like to bring picnic blankets and collapsible chairs along and watch outside their vehicles. Out of preference, I'm more of a traditional guy watching inside the car. Everyone's experience can vary even if they're attending the same movie session.
The reason I rated this 4 out of 5 is because, with the technology advancing all the time and cinema screens getting larger and larger, the drive ins can be considered as obsolete. I reckon that it's fair to say that, if you don't arrive early, you might be stuck watching the movie a bit of a distance away from the screen with rows of cars in between. This might again just be my own personal preference, but I enjoy the movie either second or third row closest to the screen. Watching on the front row would just cause you to crank your neck up at an awkward angle.
As for the snack bar, their low staff could be a contributing factor as to why you'll be waiting longer than expected for your order. Their food is quite nice though. Standard food at an above average quality. Maybe like 7/10 haha. These are hot dogs and burgers but it's a step up from your regular Bunnings bbq.
That's about all I can think of. Sorry for...

Took my grandkids to see Super Mario Bros. Movie and it would have to be the worst entertainment experience of my life. Only sound that could be tuned in was for the 2nd screen on field 1. After being told it was my fault as I didn't know how to tune the radio, and then being told the car was at fault, the attendant finally admitted there is a known issue when other people started complaining of the same issue. I was made aware of at least 6 cars spread across all areas of the drive-in with exactly the same problem. As the movie was beginning their solution was to begin driving around the field looking for better solution!!! The candy bar is an absolute mess and apparently unable to reheat simple foods and using powdered milk in this day and age. From 4 burger meals with drinks and sides the only edible components were 1 side of oinion rings and the 4 drinks. My granddaughter managed to loosen 2 teeth biting into a partially frozen cheeseburger, leaving me with a crying 6 year old in pain. What a great start to what was supposed to be a great entertainment experience!!! Decided to leave and refund which was conducted quickly and efficiently. The staff appeared well versed in refunding and was the best experience of the night!!! The staff at this business appear well versed in obfuscating and denying issues and readily handout refunds at the drop of a hat. If you want to attend I strongly suggest watching from outside the fence with takeaway, which will actually be an improvement on the services provided inside the fence!!! If you absolutely must attend then get your takeaway meals before entry and take a portable radio with you to increase your chances of actually hearing...
Read moreThe Skyline Drive-In in Blacktown offers a nostalgic and unique movie-watching experience, taking you back to a bygone era with its retro ambiance. Located in Sydney's Western suburbs, it's one of the last remaining drive-in cinemas in Australia and is operated by Event Cinemas.
One of the highlights of the Skyline is its diverse film selection, featuring new releases as well as classic movies. The audio is transmitted directly to your car's FM radio, providing clear and crisp sound. The screen is large and easily visible from a variety of angles, ensuring a good view no matter where you park.
Adding to the vintage vibe is the on-site diner, which serves a range of classic drive-in fare like burgers, hot dogs, and milkshakes. The 1950s-inspired design and menu items contribute to the overall retro atmosphere of the venue.
However, it's worth noting that the experience comes at a premium price compared to a standard movie ticket. Also, the venue can fill up quickly, especially for popular films or special events, so arriving early to secure a good spot is advisable.
Weather can also be a factor, as heavy rain or fog can impact visibility and overall enjoyment. Although the screen is quite large, larger vehicles are parked at the back to avoid obstructing the view for others, so keep that in mind if you're considering what vehicle to bring.
All in all, the Skyline Drive-In in Blacktown offers a delightful and unique cinema experience that's perfect for a date night or a fun outing with friends and family. It successfully combines modern conveniences with vintage charm, making for a...
