I will preface this with the fact that I am a non drinker, and spirits have never been my thing. Less offensive than any other gin and whisky I have tried. Might not sound like high praise, but it is when you're not a drinker. Went along because it was part of a tour. If I did drink, I'd drink theirs. The love they put into it is very impressive, and the owners have great stories to tell, very inspiring. I haven't drunk a lot of spirits in my life, but I was impressed by the variety of flavours and smells. High-quality stuff! "They say when you die, your life flashes before your eyes. Don't let it be boring. " Try the whiskey. :)

One of the hidden gems in northwest Tasmania you should visit if you're a true whiskey lover. Alchemia is a family owned businesses run by two lovely couple Matt and Sarah. Still in it's early days of distillery but serves you very authentic spirits with amazing texture and aromatic layers into it. The distillery itself is a 150 year old barn the couple has modified into its modern- contemporary looks which you'd definitely love to sit down and taste your favorite spirits overlooking-yet to farm-barley feilds. They have the best spirits I've ever tasted in Tasmania so far! Must visit place!

Hands down the best handcrafted whiskies I have tasted in Oz.. and let’s just say, I’ve tried a few 😊 Head Distiller Matt is very passionate about sharing his journey so that you can truely appreciate the process of making Whisky. Sarah’s also not shy to share her wealth of knowledge with distilling both gin and whisky, and gives you a better understanding into the world of Tasmanian whisky making.. if you are remotely interested and would like to get hands on education, book the private cask experience! You will not regret it.

An amazing distillery true to their vision, producing quality handcrafted spirits in an idyllic setting. I was lucky enough to have been gifted the Alchemist Academy Private Cask Experience, for my 40th from my lovely wife. I couldn’t recommend it more, if you fancy a wee dram and want to learn how this sweet nectar of the God’s is made! Sarah and Matt’s passion for their Spirit’s and Distillery is evident with every step through the incredible facility they have made. Lovingly repurposed and resurrected out of a collection of previously neglected outbuildings on the property, very cool! They shared their knowledge freely and I thoroughly enjoyed being part of it, learning a lot during my spirit’s journey from hand-sorted malted barley, all the way to the barrel. With a keen eye for excellence and taste buds to match, they produce an incredible drop for adults to enjoy. Now all I must do is wait… at least I get to visit every 6 months...

Don’t bother visiting if you’re on a family holiday, you won’t be allowed in or out of the venue. Have been to a number of AMAZING artisinal distilleries in the area who were MORE than welcoming for a small family, but this one was so abrupt and unwelcoming we were quite put off. We walked in to be told it was an over 18’s venue only, and even though my husband was there to buy he couldnt stay because I was there with a child. If the lady serving could have shut the door on us she probably would have. Bit crazy given the destination and economic climate that you’d turn away paying customers so much so that we werent even offered to wait outside but I guess all businesses are not the...
