Type of restaurant: Seafood, Oysters
Overall (5/5): Oysters were great value for the freshness, and taste wise great for the price. Prawn was very fresh and nice and decent value. Friendly staff.
Food (4.5/5): We got two dozens of oysters. One Golden Tass(?) and the other is the Pacific oysters. The oysters were fresh and tasty. For the price, its definitely a steal, however, could not say anything very special about it, apart from very great value. Oysters were also salty for us, so we removed the saltwater that was served with the oysters. I can't really tell much difference between the two.
The prawns however were great. There were no reviews of the prawns when we ordered so we took a gamble. The prawns were fresh and had quite the crunch, and the saltiness worked in its favour this time round for me. It's not exactly cheap (AUD 22.5), but at least the taste was good.
Service (4/5): Friendly staff explaining the available items. Small seatings to accommodate around 10pax
Value (4.5/5): Oysters was definitely good value. Prawns were decent value.
Others: Also sells other seafood...
Read moreThe oysters at Blue Lagoon are something seriously special. Tasmanian oysters vary all over the state, but the oysters here are plump and tender, briny yet still creamy, and as fresh as possible. Blue Lagoon offers farm to table oysters that are a true culinary delight. The oysters are farmed and harvested right in the waters beside the shop, then shucked in house. A few varieties are offered and are absolutely incredible. The pacific oysters here are as good as they get and the Tasmanian gold oysters are remarkable. Tasmanian gold oysters are offered here and from only one other oyster farm in all of Tasmania. The gold oysters have a golden colour to the shell and a more creamy flavour as opposed to regular pacific oysters, plus the flesh is slightly firmer and a little larger, a real highlight and a definite must try. The staff are friendly, highly knowledgeable, and the prices are very reasonable for a perfect oyster. After 4 dozen oysters in one day, my partner and I will be back for more tomorrow. Highly...

Premium oysters from the pristine water are hygiene enough to be consumed straight away safely. The best & cheapest place to buy the freshest oysters on the way to Eaglehawk Neck, the World Heritage listed Port Arthur & Tasman Natuonal Park/ Island Cruise. Slow growing Tassie Gold are rarely produced by other oysters farmers so this was a great discovery by following the signs to turn from Arthur Hwy to quiet Bay Road. It was actually shut in the early morning but fortunately the nice owner was around the area. Unlike that one near Hobart Airport, customers here can finish the takeaway oysters on spot for the same price. All other restaurants sell oysters around double up...
