Freycinet Air Tasmania — Local services in Tasmania

This review is a reflection of the company, not a specific person. The company did a poor job of providing all the resources necessary on the day of our flight. When we arrived in the morning, there was only one person present at the entire facility, who was our pilot. Turns out it was his first day on the job with Freycinet Air, noting that he was an experienced pilot with year of experience with other companies. Freycinet Air left him with no support and he basically had to be everything. His phone was constantly ringing; we waited for 10 minutes while he learned how to make a booking for a customer on the phone. You would think Freycinet Air would have another staff member to do this while our pilot prepared for our flight. We were looking forward to informative commentary detailing the scenery, as well as recommendations for what to see and do on Maria Island while we were there, but this happened to be our pilot’s first time on the island too, so we were left to fend for ourselves. I also don’t think our pilot followed the correct flight path according to the diagrams on the website, although we did get to see most of the scenic coastline. I don’t blame our pilot for the shortcomings, I blame Freycinet Air for not providing him with the proper support, especially on his first day. When we landed back on the mainland, there were two other parties waiting, with no one there to greet them or check them in. Overall, we had a lovely time and the views were beautiful, but the overall customer experience compared to other scenic flights we’ve done...

We had an incredible experience - felt completely safe and welcome. Being able to see Mt Amos and the beaches we had visited from above was incredible - the coloring in the sea was so much more vibrant and dynamic. I was also pleasantly surprised to not have any issues with motion sickness - turns out helicopters are much less bumpy than small planes. We ordered the cheese plate and bubbly before the flight and appreciated the special care that our pilot and his wife devoted to making our experience extra special. We flew with Freycinet Air Tasmania as a surprise for my Mum's 60th and it was one of the most memorable experiences we've ever had. Greg and Gabbi were an absolute pleasure to deal with, keeping us updated on plans for the day and going above and beyond to make our day as easy and enjoyable as possible. They were more than happy to accommodate our request to be dropped off at Devil's Corner Winery after our scenic flight, even offering to pick us up from our accomodation prior and drop us back afterwards to save us the hassle of finding a way back.
