We were looking forward to having fish and chips at this place and so set off on a Sunday drive to Port Sorell. We ordered 2 pieces of Flake and a small chips to take on a picnic lunch by the beach. Very disappointed in the fare presented. The fish size was OK as advertised, however they had been overcooked to the point of the batter being nearly burnt. The menu brochure boasts about the quality control of every chip served. We consumed about a third of them. Rather than crisp and golden they were soggy and mostly scraps. See pics. The service was slow. We ordered at 11:37 am and there were only 2 customers in store at the time. It was after 12.00pm when we finally got our order. For a new business trying to establish a good reputation I believe more attention should be paid to present food as advertised. I don't think we'll be returning any time soon.

Very clean and this makes the experience more satisfying. We got the daily special and what a surprise. The portion size was spot on and the fish cooked to perfection. For the first time I have seen a cook using a thermometer to actually ensure that the fish is cooked to perfection. The daily special is good for 2 people. I wholehearty recommend Gold 'N' Crispy.

This was our first visit to the Gold 'N' Crusty Fish and Chips at Shearwater or Port Sorrell whatever you want to call it. The Chips and other items were absolutely perfect and very Delicious. Will Certainly Come Again.😁😄😁

This used to be a place we would always visit for fish and chips to eat at the beach, and previously I would have given 4 stars...until yesterday. On our latest visit the cost of a piece of fish had jumped by $5 since our last visit only 3 weeks ago!! That is a jump of 50% in one go. We were told it is because fish prices had risen...but none of the other shops had risen, let alone by 50%! And whilst my piece of battered fish was a fair size, not large, my wife's piece of grilled fish would probably not have filled my cat up! It was tiny...for $15.95. No wonder the place was totally empty. They are going to struggle at these prices, especially as the other shop in town is so much cheaper. We probably...

I ordered the fathead tail & small serve of chips. I took one bite of the fish & couldn't eat it. It had a strange taste. Am not sure if it was the oil used or the fish. Which l later saw was from Argentina. Why! When we have beautiful seafood here. The chips were crunchy, but 80% were the tiny bits you find at the end. Its not that they were busy, infact l was the only one in the shop, Food was Not consistent. I like to give a new business a go, but l won't be going back. Please can you use Tassie fish. 🐟No more frozen fish from...
