The best whisky experience that I have, known the owner from his visit to Asia and I told him that in a view weeks I will visit Tasmania and his distillery.
He spared his precious time with me and my family even he also got an important family gathering in town, I know this later. Such a great host and warm personality.
When we arrived we was greeted with a grandeur building on the left that used to be the stable house. The welcoming building is near this place and got a huge barn doors, inside situated the bar with almost all Lark Distillery whisky products. The sitting area is in the middle with several viewing points, Bar, tasting table and greenery area just outside.
I got the special treatment, a private tour by the owner itself even to the restricted areas. The PR staff that also accompanied us explained all the small things in detail, I got enlightened by his knowledge and experience. I still need a lot to learn.
The best part is the opportunity to go inside the whisky warehouse, smell the great aroma of evaporated alcohol from the whisky that been maturing inside the barrel knows as the “Agel share”. Love it. This will always makes a great memory for me and family.
After the tour, the owner invited us to the bar and have some whisky tasting, we tried some vintage release and exchange some great conversations.
Thanks to the...
Read moreWe visited Lark yesterday for a whisky tasting and were lucky enough to be looked after by G, what a legend! He had an incredible depth of knowledge, not just about the whiskies themselves but also about the history of Lark, which really brought the experience to life. G guided us through the tasting with an easygoing and fun personality, making it both informative and enjoyable. He even suggested swapping out a couple of our chosen tastings, saying, “I think you’ll appreciate this more.” And he was absolutely right, we ended up discovering a whisky we wouldn’t have picked ourselves and loved it so much we bought a bottle to take home.
On top of that, G gave us some great tips on what to order at the Lark Whiskey Bar in the city, which we’ll be visiting today, can’t wait to try his recommendations!
Thanks, G, for such an amazing tasting experience. Highly recommend visiting Lark and hoping you get lucky enough to have him...
Read moreOlder reviews are not for Lark but the previous distillery that was on the same site (Shene Whiskey) The $99pp tasting tour isn’t worth it. It’s not a main production or storage facility of Lark’s. It’s a secondary facility and the barrels are still from the previous brand. Expected to sample some of the finer whiskey’s. Instead given the 3 cheapest available, available at the cellar door for a total of $28. Not entirely sure why the tasting nips (15ml) are so expensive either. It really turns you off trying multiple. 500ml bottle = $300 15ml nip = $18 ? Going in with the intention of buying multiple bottles and left with the feeling of being done over by a tourist trap. Arguably not even worth the drive from Hobart considering the tasting options are...
