We had such a great time at Launceston Distillery! We were two flight attendants and two aviation geeks who missed our flight and walking over here turned out to be the best decision. The distillery is housed in the historic Hangar 17 at Launceston Airport, and the team has done an amazing job preserving its aviation heritage. Amongst the barrels, you’ll find original Ansett seats, vintage bar carts, photos from Queen Elizabeth’s visit, and more, it’s a dream for whisky and aviation lovers.

The whisky tasting was fantastic, thorough, informative, and full of incredibly well-balanced whiskies (we tried six!). Whether you’re early for a flight or find yourself unexpectedly grounded like we did, this place is 100% worth the visit. You can walk there easily via the carpark and a grassy path! no need to take the road. Big thanks to the team!...

We actually went a few months ago on our Honeymoon, just forgot to review!

It was an absolutely wonderful time. Came in late hoping just for a quick tasting to buy, was completely floored when we were offered a tour so close to closing.

We visited a number of wineries and distilleries, and you know a place like Launceston Distillery is top notch when every other place that was exceptional, recommends them and was glad we went there vs. other nearby distilleries.

We loved every single Whiskey we tried, and they had two Experiences available at the time that my wife and I did as well. The Off Season keg and bottle yourself, and the Angus key and bottle yourself.

Cannot recommend highly enough. I have sung the praises of the whiskey and the distillery to any poor sod who has to listen. Cannot wait to come back and...

Launceston Distillery is situated in an old Ansett Hanger at Launceston Airport. A convenient location, get off the plane straight into some drams. We did a tasting tour, which was as much about the history of the hanger as the whisky. A typical distillery set up, with a couple of stills for making the whisky, they also brew their own mash on site using local malted barley and water. We sampled their core range, a good variety of Apera, port and bourbon casks. We purchased a bottle of hand filled distillery exclusive tawny cask aged 3 5 years. This was a good purchase, this dram was a clear standout, a deep Amber colour, a flavour bomb of raisins, toffee and pudding, oily and long lasting. We enjoyed this bottle over the next couple of days, whilst golfing at the...

a true Mecca for any whisky drinker passing through. a genuine hand-made, literal world-class distillery. the tour is short but informative, the tasting is well priced and amazing, and the history is just wonderful. be prepared to pay however if you choose to walk away with the bottle. this is not BWS, the cheapest drop will *start* at $150 or so. but if you're making the trip, you should already be prepared to splash out on some proper "only once or twice a year" top shelf drinks. sadly the world renowned Angus the supervisor was not present, however that didn't spoil the occasion. a wonderful hour, and a takeaway bottle of one of the (literally) highest rated whiskies in the world.
