Pretty disappointed and angry about the whole experience and situation with Skydive Ramblers... I booked myself in about 6 weeks back from this date, the jump was my 40th birthday present from my partner, family and friends, tandem jump with video recording and photos included, so not a cheap experience. we made sure to be out there for the weekend, so we all booked a camp site close to Ramblers. This is a 2 hour drive from home. The jump was booked for the Saturday morning, remembering this was booked about 6 weeks ago, I received a phone call on Friday morning after setting up camp and was advised that they didn't have an available instructor to tandem with me..., first sign of them being disorganised and unprofessional. The jump was rescheduled for 1000 the next day. I accepted that being the case and cakculated to leave camp early to accommodate the change. I dropped in on the Saturday afternoon to make sure everything was still a go and make sure I had everything sorted to be here at the right time. I was told everything had been confirmed for a 1000 jump but if I got there earlier that I could be put on a earlier jump. We packed up 2 vans and a tent and were at Ramblers by 8:30am, signed in and all paid up. We were told to wait in the courtyard for my name to be called. So I started waiting. At this point we watched a group if about 6 jumpers that signed in behind me suit up and head across to wait for the next flight, so i thought I'd be next and continued to wait my turn... and i waited and waited some more. All the time no communication from staff. After watching another 3 plane loads of regular jumpers and staff members that basically do this on a daily, get off the plane and jump back on the next flight for another jump, we made enquiries and was told that we would be in flight 5...flight 4 came and went. At 11:30am I was told that no more jumps will be happening due to windy weather,... but having just watch regular jumpers and staff members go time and time again and then be told that's it basically it for the day, or you can hang around all day "just in case" was not good enough, especially when paying and planning the whole weekend around this experience and 40th birthday present! Having staff members laugh it off, not handle the situation well at all, really takes away from wanting to do it again.. So I would not recommend booking or doing a tandem jump with Ramblers, they were very unprofessional, did not put paying customers first and it appears that if you're not a mate of the staff or a member of a skydiving club, youll be at the bottom of the...
Read moreSaturday drive on the 6th of July, for my birthday on the 8th, to Ramblers for my skydive on Sunday the 7th, Was - OMG!!! OMG!!! an incredible and amazing day!!! I was so exhausted with the mixture of not enough sleep from excitement, adrenaline and I even think tbh maybe a bit of fear thrown in there lol 🤣 Even though my birthday wasn’t till Tuesday this weekend felt like it WAS my birthday and the skydive was a way to celebrate it!!! 🥰 It was a the most wonderful experience and it was just unforgettable in every way possible to me!!! What’s even more amazing was I had all my beautiful family with me to share in it too. Staying the night before in a cabin was the best choice for me, as I got to meet so many lovely and wonderful people on the Saturday and enjoy the atmosphere of the skydivers as they did their Jumps and meet alot of the lovely staff too. I had an incredible instructor named Ty and after doing the Jump Ty gave me a gift pack and in it was a discounted voucher to do another jump. I wasn’t sure how I felt about doing another jump tbh, nor doing one straight after doing the very first one either lol 😂 I looked at hubby John and then to the kids Amy, David and Kirk and said maybe I should do it again today, seeing you’re all here?? They all just said they would go with whatever I wanted to do!! And even though my heart was still racing and I was still shaking I thought that because I already had the family there and Ty was working all day who made my first jump experience incredible , I decided to take the opportunity with what seemed to be everything in alignment to go ahead and do a second jump!! YUP I DID 2 JUMPS!!!! The second time round you see alot more and although of course it is the same, the second experience is a bit different with a different and refreshed awareness from the first time jump and Ty did a few loops the second time round to add to the already amazing experience. Thank you to my beautiful family for coming to be with me and thank you to wonderful Jenny at Ramblers who I spoke to from day 1 and Sara who showed us my video and was also wonderful and to Ty the most amazing person and instructor and to Adam my cameramen for my first jump. They were all amazing people The whole experience was INCREDIBLE!!!! Thank you everyone!!! Gail Winner ...
Read moreFirst ever Tandem Skydive with Zac as my instructor. What a fun time! I decided I wanted the 'full experience', so, I chose not to say ahead of time that I hate freefalling (like rollercoaster drops) even though I love twists and turns and loops and such. I say this because if this is what stops you - just let them know! Your tandem instructor can cut the 'freefall' time short and pull the canopy. I'm not going to lie - that first 10 seconds or so is heart pounding madness. Pure insanity until your brain catches up to the fall. Then it's actually pretty fun if you just relax into the fall until the instructor pulls the rip cord.
Under the canopy - once you're floating - it's quiet and beautiful and much slower than you would think. Nothing scary at all. It also helps that Zac, the other instructors and jumpers wandering around and the ladies in the office are all so kind, helpful and upbeat as you gear up, go through instructions and head up in the plane ride. :)
As a SCUBA Instructor, I'm watchful for safety and professionalism in other extreme sports and the staff, buildings, equipment, plane and even other customers at Ramblers all gave me a feeling of safety and comfort in addition to being genuinely welcoming as newcomer to their sport.
If you haven't been and have been wanting to skydive - this is a GREAT place to start your newest...
