If you’re exploring Gippsland, Peterson’s Lookout is absolutely worth a stop. The drive out is long, narrow, and a bit nerve-racking — basically a one-vehicle road that twists all the way to the small car park. The walk down to the lookout is steep (and on windy days, a little challenging), but once you arrive, the views are breathtaking: vast, peaceful, and serene. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and really soak in the beauty of the landscape and Mother Nature.
That said, I wouldn’t recommend making the trip just for the lookout alone. The drive is too long and winded for such a short adventure. Best to plan it as part of a bigger...

The 250 metre walk down to the lookout is a bit steep, there is a handrail on one side, but it's not the easiest walk.
Once you get to the lookout there's a great view looking out over the river and valley, the actual lookout itself is an impressive construction jutting out almost over the river itself, I thought it was worth the walk down and the drive, even if it was a bit iffy with strong winds...
