In the Bournda National Park (day fee $8, take correct change) you can find this special and secluded swimming spot after a short walk through some forest after the dirt road ends at a car park. It’s called Wallagoot Gap. We only found it thanks to a suggestion commenting on a previous swim. A few hours later we were in the water they suggested. This is an epic spot, a grand gorge that makes you feel small as the water surges in and out of the small rocky bay. Seriously great.

Well worth the side trip. Not much there and possibly visiting on a wet miserable cold day prevented us from really experiencing everything the Gap offers (no way we were going to swim across the cold lagoon to get to the beach), but it was a very enjoyable vista. Only a couple of hundred metres from the carpark and only a short side trip in from the travel route.

A picturesque tiny tidal beach. During low tide you can walk out between the rocks and explore more of the beach. A 5-10 minute walk from the carpark. Carpark can get busy.

It's a unique hidden gem, not easy to access as one needs to swim to reach the beach. It is suitable for some adventure but certainly not for those not daring. Make sure you have a life jacket. It's worth...
