I’m not sure how to describe a place so magical, a course that is full of surprises at every corner and seemingly every blade of grass manicured to perfection. We spent 4 days on King Island and 54 of our 90+ holes were played here. We were supremely lucky with perfectly sunny weather and literally played millionaires golf, with very few groups on the course with us for the first two rounds. The wind abated each day but only started with about 25 - 30kms and was certainly playable for each round. The first hole to the last was a picture at every turn, although a photo cannot do this place justice. It’s true perfection. I can appreciate if the wind was and weather was less than favourable, it could be a very different experience. The on site staff were extremely accomodating, whether it was for golf information or dining. Thanks team. Not to mention the accomodation we stayed in, nestled along Hole 1, was magnificent. Now if I was going to be super critical, there are two things I would love to see different, firstly the speed of the greens were too slow for me (personal choice), it’s like practicing on carpet, true but very slow. Secondly there are no range facilities on course, not even a couple of nets. Not ideal to have no practice options for people coming from interstate and paying good money for the experience. These two critiques would certainly no stop me from coming back time and time again to play this sensational course. If you are a golfer this must be on your...

I recently posted a review about the Ocean Dunes course on King island. A day later we played Cape Wickham Links. Wow, I didn't expect the layout of the Dunes getting topped but Cape Wickham is just spectacular (although the Dunes is a gem of a golf course). The moment you arrive you know that this course is special, that the land it was built on is special the day you'll play on it will be remembered as a special day. We again had that world class course exclusively for ourselves the entire day. Every single hole had it's WOW moment, almost every hole is played either next or at the ocean, either the green or the tee-box, the fairway or everything is along or at the ocean. The condition of the course can be described as top-notch (as at Ocean Dunes although CW was slightly better I would say). The reason why I would rank Cape Wickham above almost every one of the so called "best courses globally", is that the land it was built on hasn't been changed much. The course never feels being artificially designed and constructed. It feels like it always has been there. Finally the staff needs to be mentioned as very welcoming, professional and attentive. The food (we had the Cape Wickham) burger was excellent in taste and preparation. All in all it was the best golfing experience I ever had and I am very much looking forward to return to this special...

Definite must play golf course in Australia

This place is breathtaking from the drive in to some of the views a you make your way around the golf course.

Although it is a little tiresome and difficult to get to with flights and transfers, the course is nothing short of spectacular from start to finish. The greenery is top class, and each hole provides its own challenges. It would be good to play a second round there after knowing where things were, blind tees and shots to greens that are left to the unknown the first time round.

Be prepared for the wind, it was blustery the day we played but not horrific so made life a little more pleasant. The clubhouse and facilities are very primitive but don't let this judge your experience as the people in them were friendly and willing to assist with towels or umbrellas. A cart is not essential, but makes the day more enjoyable so book one as soon as you know you are playing there as there are not many of them.

Take plenty of golf balls if you spray it as you don't find too many that go into the salt bushes, or off one of the cliffs into Bass Strait!

Really good day out, take plenty of photos as there are some amazing views around the course, and book in a second round.

Will definitely go back to this course as its easy to see how its rated so high on public access golf courses in Australia...

Amazing golf course, worth every cent... The daily running, drink prices, general cleanliness of facilities, rooms and golf carts is a concern. I was charged $57 for a six pack of Corona to take on course, I was given a plastic bag with some ice in it, felt rorted and when questioned about the cost, the young staff member responded with, if you have cash we can make it $50. How about $30, they don't need to rip people off like this... FYI, I purchased a carton of Corona at the IGA in Currie for $67, so don't tell me things are expensive on the Island!!! The staff whilst lovely, are young and seem to lack authority or direction in the day to day running. My advice, let the team at Ocean Dunes oversee the running of this course as well... Having said that, I will be back to take on the challenge of this outstanding golf course, just won't be staying overnight...

There are only really a handful of seaside golf courses that are special in this world- Dornoch, Old Head, Pebble, Turnberry, and Cape Wickham. For being so incredibly remote the course is in wonderful condition and the staff does an amazing job in service and food quality. Rooms might look humble from the outside but are wonderfully comfortable with protected outdoor patios. I can't recommend preordering the crayfish ahead of time enough but all myself were delicious.
