2hr return trip. Medium intensity. A challenge but doable -2 Adults, 2 kids between 12-15 yrs old From Tidal River camp you drive about 10mins to the carpark. Your hike starts at the Telegraph Saddle carpark, from there it’s about an hour walk to the top, the pathway is gravel and wide but steep. (Photo 1) There’s a bench every km or so to rest. (Photo 2) Once you get to the top there’s a 5-10min walk to the summit using stairs carved in the rock or steps created. (Photos 3-5) At the top it’s breathtaking, you see sweeping views (photos 6&7) If you’ve got young kids you’ll need to watch them at the top because there’s no rails or safety measures. It’s safe enough and the rocks large and flat. There’s a couple of little spots to view from different areas We usually walk 30mins a day on flat terrain, this was a challenge for us but not that bad and you can take breaks as you go. Definitely worth it when you’re at the top

To get to the summit you need to walk from Telegraph Saddle car park. To get to this car park during peak times, there is a shuttle bus that runs between the carpark and the visitor centre via tidal river night hikers car park. The walk is roughly 6.9 KMs two-way and can take up to 3 hours depending on the speed you could walk and the amount of time you spend up at summit. It's a gradual acent of 350 meters. Most of the track is paved and easy to walk besides the gradual acent but the last bit is a steep narrow path that might be challenging for some. Once you are at the summit, you are treated to an absolutely stunning view! Though many say 360 view, it's not quite true but you won't regret the hike up.

Visited the place in spring 2019. What a beauty I hadn’t finished all the hiking up to the top because of my health issues. We went to the trail walk up to 2 kms and come back. This one is bit easier than the Gippsland one. The drive to Wilsons Promontory is an exciting one. If you are coming from Melbourne, the town of Caldermeane ( may be a wrong spelling) is a must visit. There is a cattle farm, and is a good experience to find out how they graze the cattle, milking techniques and fresh diary products made from these cows.

The surrounding beauty of the beaches and dunes is mesmerising. A lot of option for holiday at one...
