Sea Cliff Bridge View Point, Clifton NSW 2515, Australia
The Sea Cliff Bridge View Point in Clifton, New South Wales, is a breathtaking destination that perfectly encapsulates the natural beauty and engineering brilliance of the Illawarra region.
This iconic location, approximately an hour drivr from south of Sydney, which offers visitors a unique blend of coastal charm and architectural marvel. The bridge itself spans 665 meters along the rugged cliffs of the Tasman Sea, connecting the coastal villages of Coalcliff and Clifton.
This bridge was constructed in 2005 to replace a precarious cliff-hugging road prone to rockfalls, and it has since become a celebrated landmark for both locals and tourists.
The viewpoint above the Sea Cliff Bridge is renowned for its panoramic vistas of the coastline and the sweeping curves of the bridge as it juts out over the ocean. Reaching this unofficial lookout involves a short but steep hike through dense bushland.
The trail begins near the southern end of the bridge, marked by a slightly worn path that winds uphill. While the climb can be challenging, especially for those unaccustomed to steep terrain, the reward at the top is unparalleled. The perfect view that has become a favorite among photographers and other enthusiasts. However, it is important to note that this track is not officially maintained, and there are no safety precautions in place, making it essential for visitors to exercise caution.
The Sea Cliff Bridge itself is equally captivating when experienced from ground level. It features a pedestrian pathway that allows visitors to walk its entire length, offering uninterrupted views of the ocean on one side and towering cliffs on the other.
The bridge's design that has a balanced cantilever structure made of prestressed concrete, adds to its allure as an engineering feat. Walking along it provides a sense of being suspended between land and sea, with waves crashing dramatically below.
The area surrounding the bridge is part of the scenic Grand Pacific Drive, making it an ideal stop for road trips. Visitors often combine their trip with other attractions in the Illawarra region, such as Stanwell Tops Lookout or nearby beaches. Parking near the bridge can be limited, particularly during weekends and holidays, so arriving early or planning ahead is recommended.
While the Sea Cliff Bridge View Point offers an unforgettable experience, visitors should be mindful of safety concerns. The unofficial nature of the lookout trail means that conditions can be unpredictable, particularly after rain when paths may become slippery.
Tragically, there have been accidents in this area due to loose ground near cliff edges. For those who prefer a safer alternative, drone photography can capture similar aerial perspectives without requiring the climb.

Read moreA nice and romantic place to be if only you have a partner. If you are alone still its a good place but c’mon no point to go there and curse all the couples. 🤪 jokes apart, good place for family visit. Stan-well park is around 15-20 minutes drive away. If you are healthy enough you may want to take the stairs and explore underneath the bridge. But, be careful and tide water and its not a good idea to get close to the water as any time bug wave may hit that area and wash you off. The place is fill with sharp and edgey rocks. So hopefully you dont want this place to be your last visited place. Dont take kids and elderly there. Evening time is best to enjoy the scenarios from top of the bridge. Parking available. You can use the walkway on the bridge to cross it by foot as well. Dont waste you time taking photos and videos, unless you are * enough like me to write this long review and westing time. I am doing cus i am so bored though.
