This experience was outstanding! Kati was our lead camel tour guide and she worked with Georgia and Pien (I'm sorry if I spelled your name wrong). Only one couple had prior experience riding on a camel, but rest assured, you don't need ANY experience since the experts will patiently teach you how to mount and ride these amazing and gentle animals. Both Georgia and Pien walked along with our 10 camel train (about 15 riders) for this magnificent sunrise tour. Georgia patiently explained MANY aspects of the camel, from camel anatomy & physiology, to mustering them in the wild, to their veterinary needs. The ride culminated in a magnificent sunrise of Ulurhu and viewing the Outback from a very unique perspective. All the camels were very gentle and our group was universally very pleased with this wonderful and unique experience. If you ever wished to have a GREAT camel ride in the beautiful Outback, this is the place to do it! Lastly we finished our ride with coffee, tea, and delicious damper bread. I can't recall the woman's name who was our host for the refreshments, but she also was very nice. Thank you Georgia, Pien, and Kati for a wonderful experience! P.S. These animals are treated very humanely and are very well...
Read moreThis was probably the MOST fun I had while in Uluru! I simply cannot believe how much fun I had.
The tour doesn't feel very long but it does take around 2 hours but a large majority of that time is waiting for the guides to explain the few things you should know and then getting everyone up on a camel. Two people per camel so if you have around 50 people like we did it will take some time.
With that said I absolutely LOVED it. The ride is slow and being a guy I can tell you the saddle WASN'T bad at all. We loved the experience and getting to know Orion a bit better, (Our Camel) who was very polite and didn't complain much.
One thing I found incredibly interesting is that Australia has the largest population of feral or wild camels in the world. A lot of the camels on our tour started out being wild and being trained at this location.
All the Staff were incredibly nice and the camels were treated VERY well. Also we booked the tour that had an open bar for 30 mins after the tour so we also had a drink afterwards.
There are times I wish I could revive my two weeks in Australia but this would definitely be at the top of the list! Can't...
Read moreMy husband recently book a surprise trip for our wedding anniversary. I had no idea where we were going. When we got to the airport I was over the moon when I realised we were going to Uluṟu, a place i had always wanted to visit. I was blown away with Uluṟu we did field of lights and the drone show was amazing. For our last sunset he had a special surprise and I was dreading it was going to be a camel ride because I had seen the horrific footage on the animal liberation page showing how cruel the training process is. My heart sank when we got to the camel farm, I really didn’t want to say anything to my husband because he put so much effort into this special occasion. They lead us out to the camels and it was horrible to watch, the backpacker staff had no idea and as we rode off I realised how unnecessary this whole experience was, it was like a lame carnival pony ride. The camels are dragged along by their nose and I shed a little tear as we finally got back. If you love animals this is not the ride for you.
I felt so guilty about the whole process I donated the same amount of money to...
