Amazing landscape and our camp spot was so lovely by the river. Wildlife was thriving as well. We stayed 5 nights costing around $200. We really did enjoy the station UNTIL we went to sign out to leave. The owner was SO RUDE! Upon arriving to the station we paid a $20 refundable fee for a map of the station. We stuck by this map as we wanted to ensure we were doing the right thing, we followed the map very closely. The owner then very rudely stated we had been to an area of the station that were NOT ALLOWED. In saying this the map we were given did not state this information and there were no signs anywhere what so ever stating we could not access the area we had been too, There was also a clear route to and from this area with no road closures or barricades with other tire tracks seen. The owner was quiet aggressive and blamed us for their poor attention to detail. The map was not updated and there was no signage or road blocks so how is that anyone’s fault but theirs? Upon being spoken to rudely, the owner proceeded to yell at another convey of cars that were pulling up to the homestead to pump up their tires and to sign out. She yelled so loudly at this convey and was very aggressive. It’s sad as we loved our stay until this point but will not be returning again due to this...
Read moreI love this Station Stay - so much so we booked an additional night🫶 Murchison House Station offers unpowered sites along the Murchison River - there’s toilets and (hot) showers a short walk away plus a Camp Kitchen that has all you need and was like being in my Nans kitchen😊. The camp sites are generous, have lovely shade trees and a fire pit each. Belinda and Callum (the owners) are the epitome of hospitality - more like friends - super helpful and Callum is a great story teller (we did the Morning Tea Tour and Belinda puts on a world class - CWA +++ treat platter😉). This is a working station but you never feel other than welcome. The property also offers bush camping (self sufficiency required ) within the property (we’ll do that next visit👍) The property is close to the beaches of Kalbarri and the Kalbarri National Park borders the property. The Murchison is tidal where you camp and you are able to bring your own kayak or SUP (it’s 12 km down river to Kalbarri if you want a paddle😉). If in the camp sites there is also a communal camp fire and we had a great chat with fellow travellers, Belinda and Callum. Seeing Belinda and Callum so active in their business, to see their enthusiasm for their Station and their community really made this an outstanding stay...
Read moreOur family has been travelling Australia for 10months prior to visiting the station for a few days of bush camping and exploring Kalbarri.||We found this to be our perfect ‘station stay’, no fancy cafe or restaurant, or numbered sites, just a proper bush camp experience.||Go on an adventure into the station until you find a good camp site. Doesn’t get any realer than that! Property owners/hosts were lovely people to chat to and learn all about the station.||The kids loved the animals around the homestead as well as spotting goats roaming the station||We spent almost a whole day exploring some 4x4 tracks and that was only a small amount of what was out there! The tracks we explored to town’s beach weren’t difficult and offered many great views along the way. What we saw was well suited to beginners/intermediate drivers as long as you stick to fundamental 4x4 practices. Well worth the $50 feee to know that the tracks are passable and safe to have some fun on.||Town of Kalbarri about 30mins away from the start of the bush camp zones, factoring in airing up tyres a bit. National park about 40mins.||We would happily revisit and enjoy some more proper bush camping ||Thanks...
