The accommodations were exactly as described. Clean and spartan. Helpful staff. Dinner and breakfast were good.

We were new to hiking hut culture, so I included what we learned.

As you enter, immediately head to the boot room. Remove boots and put on slippers ( your own or loaners). Remove boot inserts if wet and hang boots to dry on the wall.

Bring a sleeping bag liner and pillow case to use the provided pillow and blankets. Flush toilets on the ground floor that does not smell great, but I have encountered much worse. Wash room with only sinks on the second floor. Bring towel and soap for washroom. Shower MAY be available but only a trickle of water. Cash bar with rolls, wine, beer, and non alcoholic beer. Pay with cash. No WiFi. Weak cell signal in some areas. Electric plugs available in the hallway. No locks on doors They have friendly dogs on the premises. Reserve early. Especially if you want a private sleeping area. Set dining times that are not flexible. We did not need a headlamps - the cell phone flashlight was adequate for nocturnal...

This was our overnight stay at the Hütte. We were traveling with a 7-year-old child. A recommendation (which we received in advance from the Hütte and are very grateful for!): choose the route via Wiesberghaus. It's longer, but much easier! The staff at the Hütte was amazing — very attentive! The food was delicious, although breakfast was a bit limited: just one type of bread, cheese, cold cuts, bell pepper, yogurt, and jam… We missed having something sweet. But we had breakfast at 7:30, so maybe it was already...

After a nice walk from the Wiesberghaus (took uns 1:45h with a short break) we arrived at the Simonyhütte. The view is amazing and the offered drinks and food looked fine. We only had some refreshing drinks and afterwards visited the beautiful chapel (Dachstein Kapelle). By accident, the delivery helicopter was coming, so we got a very nice chopper experience as well. Everything needs to be brought there by helicopter, so the prices are a little bit above average...

Very friendly staff! Would strongly recommend on a day of nice weather. Prices are a bit on the high side, but nothing too out of line. The walking route towards the hut is already extremely wonderful, with a cold beer and the stunning view as a true climax to the day. The paths are well marked and really well accessible with a stroller 😉.
