Elfer Toboggan Run: A Thrilling Family Adventure
During our recent ski vacation, we decided to take a break from the slopes and try something different – the Elfer toboggan run. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip, providing a fantastic dose of adrenaline and fun for the whole family.
Pros: Exciting Experience: The toboggan run is long and varied, with twists, turns, and fast sections that kept us all entertained. The kids absolutely loved the thrill of speeding down the mountain. Beautiful Scenery: The run offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It's a great way to appreciate the beauty of the Austrian Alps from a different perspective. Well-Maintained Track: The toboggan run is well-maintained and safe, which gave us peace of mind, especially with the kids. Convenient Access: The Elfer lifts provide easy access to the start of the toboggan run, making it a convenient activity for families. Fun for All Ages: Both our 14-year-old and 10-year-old had a blast, as did the adults. It's an activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Good organisation: The area is well organised, and you can easily rent the toboggans at the bottom of the lift. Different experience: It is a good way to diversify the activities of a ski vacation.
Cons: Physical Exertion: Reaching the start of the run requires a ride on a chairlift, and then a little walk, and pulling the toboggan, so it is a little bit of physical activity. Potential for Crowds: Like any popular attraction, the toboggan run can get crowded, especially during peak season. This can lead to longer waiting times. Weather Dependent: The toboggan run's operation is dependent on weather conditions. If there's heavy snowfall or strong winds, it may be closed. Cost: Renting toboggans and purchasing lift tickets can add up, especially for a family. Potential for injury: Like any activity with high speed, there is a potential for injury. So it is important to be careful, and follow the rules. Recommendations for Families: Check the weather forecast before heading to the Elfer toboggan run. Arrive early to avoid crowds, especially during peak season. Dress warmly and wear waterproof clothing, as you'll be exposed to the elements. Wear sturdy boots with good traction. Follow the instructions of the staff and be mindful of other tobogganers. Consider purchasing a family pass to save money on lift tickets. Take your own toboggan if you have one, this will reduce the cost.
Conclusion: The Elfer toboggan run is a fantastic family activity that offers a thrilling and memorable experience. Despite the potential for crowds and the need for some physical exertion, the stunning scenery, well-maintained track, and fun for all ages make it a must-try. We highly recommend it to families looking for a break from skiing and a dose...
Read moreVisiting Neustift for many years but never wrote a review about Panoramabahn Elfer. And its the lift we are using the most besides the lifts from Stubai Gletscher. During winter and summer its used often by paragliders. During winter it will bring you to the Elfer slopes with some nice views when skiing back to the valley on Stubai valley with Fulpmes and Mieders.
During summer it's the perfect place to walk towards the top Elferspitze or walk to the next valley and have a great lunch at Issenangeralm.
So the Elferbahn gives you many opportunities and the price is really cheap, so no excuse...

We did what we thought was a circular route, up 1b, along the path from the Elferhutte and back down route 1, but the path turned out to be a diagonal descent across the Startplatz from half-way back down path 1b
Maybe we missed the path?
Nice to take a rest at the Elferhutte and there is a good selection of food and drink to...
