Bimini Islands — Local services in Bimini

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. Ive been to Freeport and Nassau and Bimini out does them both. Why? NO CRUISE SHIPS. End to end North Bimini can be driven across in 15 mins tops....On a golf cart. So imagine how private of a feel the island will give you. Speaking of that, renting a Golf Cart is the only way to get around unless you rent a bike or walk. There are cars on the island but theyre basically only for the people that live there and the police.

You'll have to take a daily ferry over to get there unless you own a boat and will do a 2 hr ride yourself. Theres an Airport also (think the tiny 6 passenger propeller planes). Do a day trip (Leave FL at 9 get there at 11 and return at 6 getting back by 8pm). Some people go for renting a room at the Hilton, the only hotel on the island and going back over later. Villas are rented out there as well. Most of the food spots on the island serve your basic island food, Conch Fritters, fred fish, jerk chicken rice n peas etc. You can do excursions, rent jet skis, etc otherwise plan on doing absolutely nothing there but sit at the beaches there and having a drink.

Honestly, Big Game Biminy Hotel is great, and so is the restaurant and food. We've been coming there 13 years every year by plane! It's very expensive to go there! Without the cost of the food which is of course sooo expensive! It costs 4k just to fly here for a long weekend. I've every year brought back 3 conch shells in my carry-on so that they wouldn't get broken! This year the security at the airport was extremely aggressive! Meaning we were the first blonde Americans in the airport! They not only harassed us for having shells, but physically searched us after security! They took our 3 shells and made fun of us saying we could bash them in the head with them and kill them!! What??? We're elderly people!!! They checked my husband for gun powder! Too the shells. We've never been treated like criminals there!!! It's going to be hard to go back! I love and respect Bimini Island! But security ruined our vacation this trip!! We arrived on a Celebrity Cruise Line ship. We didn't like any of the tours the cruise line offered so we took the 4-hour 2 island tour from BIMINI ISLAND TOURS. I have never been to Bimini and found it interesting. The scenery was beautiful. Some of the houses were painted in bright colors. Unless you want to hit the Resort World property and hang out at the beach all day, I recommend getting a golf cart and driving the island yourself or taking a tour of the island(s). Many places to eat. Search Google Maps ahead of time to see the highlights. My problem with both North and South Bimini islands was the trash. Not just the everyday trash like, cans, bags, blah, blah, blah, but the dead cars, dead machinery and dead bicycles. Public trash cans full too.
