Very interesting place as you can tell or you wouldn't be reading this. All in all we liked it. We were glad we stayed and I think you will as well, but next visit we will not stay here. Notes: two units are connected and are next to the ocean, one unit ?dolphin? Overlooks the pool and some water. Seahorse overlooks partially pool. We stayed in Seahorse. ( See photos) Pros: 1. amazing pool 2. great view of the water and mountains (sunset side) 3. cool experience 4. very quiet 5. good communication with local company 6. Shower is fun and still nice with only half the plants Cons: 1. cockroaches but it's tropical so it's hard to get away from these guys. Didn't see any other bugs but a couple ants. {Inside} 2. hot tub is not hot and is the same water from other guests (like a hot tub at a hotel with chlorine) it's cold water there is no heating element. In my opinion pointless. 3. WiFi was out 4. We stayed in seahorse and most of the plants have died. They should probably just have mostly fake ones 5. 20mins from town\ closest beach we could find not covered in smelly seaweed. 20+ speed bumps 😮‍💨 6. Bedroom AC rattles loudly, fan bearings are going out.

Swan Villas was a beautiful place to stay in a tranquil area during my visit about 2 weeks ago. The pool was probably my favorite because it was heated, so even if you went out at night, it would still be warm. I also like that there was nightly security and the beach and some eating spots were within walking/biking distance. Thanks for the bikes that stay on the property for us to use whenever! I did have a little bit of a negative experience while there. Because the bedroom window was cracked, there were lizards and insects in the room. And while lizards usually like to eat insects, I don't think they ate them all because of all the bite bumps that I have on my skin. Even after 2 weeks, I'm still trying to get rid of bumps on legs/arms. I also did not care for the lack of privacy. The curtains on the windows and doors did not cover the whole area. It was nice while it lasted, but I probably wouldn't stay there again if I ever returned to Belize.

An Unbelizeable Experience! This place is nothing short of a piece of art. It’s truly stunning to the eye. I have stayed all over Belize in the nicest villas the country has to offer and my three days at Swan Villas was better than I could have hoped. We so enjoyed the hot tub in the villa, the sunset over the lagoon, the round bed(!!!) and all the little touches that made our stay so great- from how the kitchen was stocked to the blow dryer and extra sheets etc. The upstairs shower in Dolphin made us feel like we were in Eden. I can’t say enough about our time here and will definitely aim to go back.

DO NOT STAY HERE - WE WERE ROBBED DURING THE NIGHT WHILE WE SLEPT.

We recently stayed at Swan Villas during our family vacation in Placencia. Since we were traveling with children, we rented the entire building containing the Lionfish, Turtle, and Shark units. Check-in was easy enough. With a brief call to Chris, the property manager, we were quickly provided instructions to access the building and obtained keys for all of the units. The kids were very excited about the pool, kayaks, and each having their own room! We immediately took advantage of the facilities to unwind after a long day of travel. On the 2nd day, we decided to take the kayaks around the lagoon and had a great time. Upon our return, my husband noticed cash went missing from his wallet. This was strange because none of our other valuables were missing. There were plenty of signage in all of the units about keeping the doors locked while you're out. This was a quick and hard lesson but we became much more vigilant after this incident. We met the property manager, Chris, on the 4th day. He was friendly and informed us that he and the housekeeping staff were using the communal laundry machines located in our building. We thought nothing of it at the time but my husband did notice the laundry detergent had also gone missing the day his cash was taken. We went on to enjoy the remainder of our stay. While bugs were a problem, it's to be expected in a lush and tropical climate, especially during the rainy season. What's not to be expected was that on our final night, with all the doors to the outside LOCKED and all the children asleep in their separate bedrooms and we in ours, a thief came into our units and robbed us of all the remaining cash. We did not discover this until the following morning as we were packing up to head to the airport. My husband was the first to realize this and we immediately checked our wallets and purses to find our cash were also missing. We then checked all of the doors. All LOCKED! It is extremely unsettling to discover that someone had access to our private quarters and rummaged through our belongings while we and our children slept just a few feet away! We immediately called Chris to inform him of what occurred and let him know we suspect one of the staff or someone who has access to the building. Chris said he would check the CCTV to see what he finds. Unfortunately, this will not relieve our fears or restore our sense of security. It's not enough to keep your doors lock if you stay here. Please be sure to sleep with the lights on and place your cash and valuables in secret hiding spots. Better yet, save yourself the trouble and rent...

I do not normally like to leave negative feedback but the way we were treated by the host (Rodolfo) really forced my hand.

Originally we booked a 6 night stay at the lion fish suite through airbnb. When arrived the place was deserted (for the exception of vicious mosquitos who were excessive in numbers even for Belize), one lonesome guest and no staff in sight. The suite was spacious but the eerie feeling of isolation was daunting. We knew we didn't want to stay right away. There were a number of issues that were apparent, but will skip those to get to the main one, the flooding. A couple of hours after we arrived, the clouds gathered and it began to pour flooding both bedrooms througn custome designed windows and doors. We were in shock! So we contacted the only person we could in this situation, our host. Rodolfo was less than forthcoming (he tried to deflect, claimed there was noone around and it would be addressed the following day, he did not offer a different suite, he did however advise we should use a mop outside our door to clean the flood lol). After Rodolfo stopped responding, we contacted airbnb and were able to cancel our reservation through the help of airbnb support and advised we'll be out the following morning by 11am (as it was already midnight, we were on the road the whole day and were exhausted from the flooding and everything that entailed). In the morning, as we were getting ready to leave and figure out where to go (as we had to figure out alternative accommodations for the next 5 nights) Rodolfo contacted us once more advising we should have been gone already followed by the knock on the door as we were escorted out by his associate (very humiliating and unprofessional). Thinking that was the end of our nightmare with this property, we went on with our vacation, only two days later to be contacted by airbnb who advised us Rodolfo was now bringing a case against us for not vacating the premises at 12 midnight after our request for cancelation was granted by airbnb.

If it wasn't for us being escorted out and the extra case brought against us to airbnb (which was obviously thrown out) I would not have written this review and let sleeping dogs lie.

Please refer to photos/videos attached and decide for yourself if you'd like to stay here, or at least check the weather to make sure there is no rain in the...

We had an unforgettable time at the Alterhome Swan Villas! The location is central, making it easy to explore, and the staff were super responsive and helpful throughout our stay. But let's talk about the villa – it was insanely cool. The architecture is funky and unique, unlike anything we've ever seen before. It’s one of those places where you walk in and immediately know there’s no other like it!||||The design was not only creative but also incredibly practical. The bedroom had tons of storage space, including shelves and baskets, which made it easy to keep things organized. We were particularly impressed by the shower—it had a ceiling-mounted head and live plants hanging from above, making the whole experience feel like a spa retreat. Honestly, every inch of the home seemed to be thoughtfully crafted with comfort in mind.||||Plus, we had access to plenty of extra linens and blankets in the laundry room, which was a nice touch. Just a heads-up—bring your own laundry soap!||||A Few Small Things to Note:||There was a faint musty smell that we thought might have been coming from the hot tub (it doesn’t have a cover), but we were able to mitigate it by covering a drain hole in the living room with a book, which seemed to help. Also, while we loved the firmness of the bed, the pillows could have been a bit more comfortable for a perfect night’s sleep.||||Overall, this place exceeded our expectations, and we'd definitely come back. It’s a truly unique and stylish retreat that’s...
