This is a truly unique place. The atmosphere is super friendly and laid back. You are immersed with the locals much more than any vacation I have been on but it's a great thing as they are friendly and easy going. There are, like at any beach, some locals trying to sell you stuff but again, they are very nice and not pushy in the least. We said hello to a man working in one of the unfinished houses (and there are lots of those) and he invited us into the house to show us what he was working on which was doing the finish sanding on about seven hand carved mahogany doors which were amazing and beautiful. It's not the least bit scary or threatening here and you can walk around at night, even though the back streets and not feel remotely unsafe. If for example you fell and cried out, I am sure the locals and tourists alike would come running to help. The tourists are happy but without the hectic laying out to get suntanned or the feeling you need to get wasted to have a fun vacation. If you want a friendly easy going beautiful place to relax this...

And they all...
